Hi everyone,
I’m seeking assistance with integrating a GENBOLT GB217H battery-powered security camera into Home Assistant.
Product link: GENBOLT GB217H on Amazon
This camera is quite impressive for its price—good video quality, motion detection, spotlight, and remote monitoring via the official app. However, since it’s battery-operated, I understand it doesn’t support RTSP streaming, which makes traditional camera integrations with Home Assistant more difficult.
So far, I’ve only been able to access and control the camera through its proprietary app. I’m hoping someone in the community has experience with either:
- Reverse-engineering or sniffing traffic to find endpoints
- Using Tuya, Smart Life, or similar integrations if it happens to be rebranded under another platform
- Any workaround (like using app notifications, webhooks, or snapshot polling)
If anyone has had success with GENBOLT cameras—or similar models—and Home Assistant, I’d really appreciate your insight. These cameras are great, and it would be a bonus to get them into my smart home setup.
Thanks in advance!
