Pioneer components flaky | VSX-933 and VSX-S520D

HA start up log report Pioneer Living Room AV Receiver (Pioneer VSX-933) refused connection

and does not show up as an entity. For the S520D; an entity is created, I am able to turn on the receiver with media_player.turn_on but am not able to turn the S520D off.

Anyone successfully operating Pioneer receivers with HA?
