Greetings
I am currently running HA on an Atomic PI (also running other stuff). Previously I ran it on my NAS. I am thinking of switching to a piece of dedicated hardware and was wondering if anyone had any particular suggestions.
Other than running Linux I would like to see the following (in no particular order).
- Has a battery (power here is not always stable, but I can run it from a UPS if needed).
- Has a touch screen (so it can also be used as a controller).
- Relatively small (I don’t need a laptop size device).
- Either a simple charging cable or a dock would be nice.
I have considered an ARM based device (from a spare CHIP with a 7" touchscreen, to a pine64, to a new raspberry pi 4 with touchscreen and case)
I have also considered an Intel atom based device like the Atomic pi (although if I go that route the touch screen is unlikely) or even a NUC (but that seems like overkill).
I have mostly Tasmota switches with some Ikea Trådfri (gateway, bulbs and an LED driver), plus Sonos/Symfonisk/Bravia/Roku setups.
MQTT and presence is provided via an openWRT router which will not be changing.
Any suggestions? Thoughts?
I am currently torn between:
- using my older Pine64 with battery back up for HA and the Chip with screen and battery for a controller.
- Raspberry Pi 4 with 7" touch screen (and camera?) in a case (pro looks good, newer har
- Atomic Pi (no controller, would need a case and power supply)
Any suggestions? What are your thoughts?
