ZHA how to use switch binding correctly?

Okay, leaving aside how hard it is to manage all this from within Home Assistant, I’m not stuck in a situation for which there may be an easy solution?

Basically, I tried to bind my Lutron Aurora switches directly to the lights they control using zigbee binding. So far so good- they control the lights, and do so quickly. (It’s using individual bindings, I had nothing but headaches with groups.)

The problem is, Home Assistant doesn’t seem to see the state change when the switch controls the lights, and thinks they are off. This results in the lights eventually turning themselves off, or getting the wrong dimming values, and things like that.

How can I resolve this? I’ve tried unbinding the things, so that I can just use HA, but there doesn’t seem to be a real way to do this - at all. I’ve even tried ZHA toolkit, but I just can’t seem to figure out how to work that thing. It offers a list of low level things, and I have no idea what to choose…

What I’m thinking is, that maybe I just need to bind the lights to my coordinator? Would that work? I don’t want to do that without checking first, since I can’t figure out how to unbind things (the HA interface definitely doesn’t do it - speaking of the clearly defined “unbind” button.)
