Hi hope I posted to the correct thread
I recently got an depreci on Google API key

"The 'api_key' option (with value 'XXsafdsgjkgrXX') is deprecated, please remove it from your configuration...."

I un-comment in VSC… Config check shows up fine, I go and restart HA and it keeps hanging. Luckily I am able to Samba in to turn the API key back on. It reboots fine, any thoughts?
I’m up to date on 104.x just did today 1/18/2020 with Hassio Pi 3b+… nothing in the logs

Envisalink DSC Chime activation

So just installed a DSC system today to compliment my HA install. HA is the main driver and I just use the alarm system for some added benefits.

So I was curious today since now I have the system all installed and working great, is there a way with the Envisalink to have it trigger the chimes on the keypad? Say I open a door/window that isn’t directly monitored by the envisalink but I still want it to do its little sound. Is this possible?

Thanks for your help.

Reconfiguring weather after relocating

@parautenbach wrote:

We recently moved homes.

I have a weather card on the Lovelace UI.

When I first installed Home Assistant, I didn’t configure the UI in YAML. The weather card was created automatically based on input I gave during the initial setup.

About 2 months ago I switched the UI config to YAML. I manually added the weather card and used the existing weather entity (for my home address then). I didn’t set up that entity (thus, it’s not in my configuration.yaml).

At my new address, I thought that maybe after updating my home location under the homeassistant: section and updating my home zone: that a new weather entity would be created. It could be that the old entity is using the new lat long, but I’m unable to tell the difference, as it’s still the same town.

I would love to understand how the defaults were created in the first place and which weather platform it uses.

What would be the correct way for me to set and update my weather card? Do I need to explicitly set up a weather: platform? Must i create an entity or is it created when I setup the platform.

I can only find some thin and somewhat contradictory info as it seems things have changed a bit over time.

Combining 2 Ecobee Thermostats into a Single Thermostat Card

I’m relatively new to HA, so please forgive my ignorance if it is apparent.
I have two Ecobee Thermostats (upstairs and downstairs) both configured into the HASS ecosystem. On Lovelace UI, these show up as a 2 separate thermostat cards.

Since I rarely, if ever control the two separately, is there a way of combining the two thermostat cards into a single thermostat card, so that I can control the upstairs and downstairs temp, fan mode etc in sync?

I searched the forum and there was only one post – but it seemed to be incomplete and never saw an answer. Wonderingf if anyone could share their wisdom.

Thank you.

Setting climate back to previous state after couple of minutes

@olli.dev wrote:

Hi there!

I’m trying to figure out a solution for the following idea:

I created a script that will put certain Z-Wave climate devices (thermostats) to a very low target temperature, being used whenever we want to open the windows and let fresh air in. I now want that script to put the thermostats back to their previous (aka before the script was fired manually) target temperature like after 20 minutes.

All I’m missing right now is a way to somehow save the various previous target temperatures of the affected thermostats to variables or so.

How can I retrieve the current target temperature (aka attribute) of a climate-device? Let’s say my climate was “climate.danfoss_devolo_home_control_radiator_thermostat_heating_1_3” - how do I retrieve the attribute target temperature (aka temperature)?

Kind regards and thanks for helping me

Thanks

Stream from IPhone with app iPCamera

@hans1 wrote:

Hello there,
I am fairly new to HomeAssistant and I am trying to use my old IPhone as an IP camera with the app ‘iPCamera’.
Following the great description from @mikeg1130 on

I am now able to pull an image from the IPhone each time a motion sensor picks up motion and I show this image on my chromecast enabled TV.
However, I would like to show a live stream instead of the still image.
I wrote a script as follows, but I get an error message, that the camera does not support
play_stream: “camera.iphone6 does not support play_stream service”. I am a bit puzzled, because the Lovelace UI does show me a live stream, after I click on the still-image preview. So it should somehow be possible to get a stream.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

scripts.yaml:

'1579461249737':
  alias: Chromecast_playCamera
  sequence:

      entity_id: camera.iphone6
      media_player: media_player.chromecast_livingroom
    entity_id: camera.testcam
    service: camera.play_stream

configuration.yaml:

stream:
ffmpeg:
  ffmpeg_bin: /usr/bin/ffmpeg
camera:
  - platform: mjpeg
    name: iphone6

Thanks in advance…

Choose a MQTT value to be displayed

@daniel-sthlm wrote:

I’m trying to choose the right value to be displayed in HA but I only get errors or too much values.

Of all messages I like this one to be displayed to show my cold water consumption:
{“media”:“cold water”,“meter”:“mkradio3”,“name”:“water01”,“id”:“823xxx”,“total_m3”:4.5,“target_m3”:1.6,“timestamp”:“2020-01-19T20:22:52Z”}

but I also get messages like this with Unknown and with values that’s wrong:
{“media”:“Unknown”,“meter”:“mkradio3”,“name”:“water01”,“id”:“823xxx”,“total_m3”:0,“target_m3”:0,“timestamp”:“2020-01-19T20:23:11Z”}

And my HA config looks like this when I get them all:

  • platform: mqtt
    state_topic: “wmbusmeters/823xxx”
    name: “Cold water”
    unit_of_measurement: ‘m3’
    value_template: ‘{{ value_json[“total_m3”] }}’

How can I create a config to ignore all values except the media with cold water and nice value in total_m3?

Dashboard Card for Task and 'business logs'

@joernborup wrote:

Hi Community

How do I display ‘my Todo Actions’ in LoveLace ?

I have a display/tablet in the kitchen that shows the ‘kitchen view’ in Lovelace. Here I would like to have a ‘card’ that somehow could show the ‘tasks’ that needs to be done the next couple of days.

Tasks like:

-Which trash can to put out to curb (we have 6 different trash cans, being emptied with different schedules).

-ei when the mouse trap is sprung, and needs to be emptied.

-Different ‘business alerts’ (not technical logs), that I would like to be informed about (and not a bunch of emails or like…).

-…

How to present this ? How to handle this ? A calendar behind, and and place to hold ‘business logs’ until handled…

Do we have a suggestion for a solution ?

Thanks.

I’m getting no where fast after searching as i seem to keep getting conflicting info :frowning:

i have octoprint running on a separate PI4 and i have embedded the web front end into an iframe and this shows fine internally when i’m on the network. when i go external and try to access it i just get a blank page.

I’ve read different reports about iframes some people saying you can only access if ports are open, other saying use nginx and reverse proxy it. i’m running Nabu Casa and cant really find much info about combining them both. others sites have said that some pages cant show as not https which my octoprint isn’t and not externally facing.

So would any body like to point me in the right direction please :frowning: i know there is a plugin for octoprint but it doesn’t show as much info as the web page and I’ve found the webcam stream very very slow

Zwave devices not polling

I have some older Evolve switches that were working fine. Now, it seems to be ignoring the polling intensity. I tried to remove and then add the node back, but I’m still having issues. The zwave_device_config.yaml seems to be hooked up right because my dimmers are working correctly (with refresh_value and delay). Is polling broken in 0.104.2?

Also, they show unavailable in the UI, but I can turn them on and off.

Here’s an snip from my zwave_device_config.yaml file:

switch.downstairs_bathroom_fan:
  ignored: false
  polling_intensity: 1

My configuration.yaml file:

zwave: !include integrations/zwave.yaml

And from the zwave.yaml file:

  network_key: <key>
  usb_path: /dev/ttyACM0
  device_config: !include ../zwave_device_config.yaml

Unable to get any presence detection method to work

@jjudson wrote:

I’ve tried the Home Assistant app. I’ve tried OwnTracks. I’ve tried the Netgear router. I’ve tried Bluetooth. While the tracking device (I’m using my iPhone 8) show up in Home Assistant and is assigned properly to my persona, none of them report me as away. All say I’m home, no matter how many miles away I travel. I don’t know what is wrong. I have followed all of the settings to the letter. I set my zones to 100m. My iPhone is reporting my location accurately on the device.

For each new attempt, I’ve scrubbed the system of all instances, using the docs online. I’ve deleted the known_devices file, removed the mobile_app file. Removed all instances in the entities, integrations, configuration.yaml and personas, rebooted, then started with a new attempt with a new presence tracking method. Is there a persistent file somewhere that I’m missing?

I’m unfortunately close to returning to OpenHab. Does anyone have any guidance what to look for or why nothing seems to work? I’ve spent four days now on this with no luck at all. This is so frustrating.

group.family and group.kids changed to home, but group.adults changed to home almost 9 minutes later. I would expect group.family and group.adults should change the status to home at the same time. What could be the reason for this? Note most of the time it works ok, but this time it has 9 minutes gap.
