Hi!
After spending hours (two evenings) trying to bind Fyrtur and Deconz/Conbee 2 i have to try to ask here.
I have read what i found here and googled a lot, but it did not solved my problem.
It works out of the box when using the included remote and trådfri repeater, but pair with deconz just not work.
I have tried to hold a trådfri repeater centimeters from the blinds electronic in blinds pairing mode and searched for light in Phoscon/Deconz app.
I have the latest version of HA, and latest firmware on conbee 2.

What am i doing wrong?

Need Help: I want a sensor for the total gigabytes in/out by day/month/year - UPnP sensor measures bytes that keeps rolling over to zero,

@forte wrote:

I’ve got the UPnP integration set up to connect to my router and give me some network stats, it’s great!
but there’s an issue… an issue that I’ve mentioned in the title of the post… it measures it in bytes. And this means that it very quickly reaches some sort of limit and resets itself to zero

I’ve got a DDWRT router, and the UPnP integration has given me…

  • bytes received
  • btyes sent
  • kB/s received
  • kB/s sent
  • packets received
  • packets sent
  • packets /s received
  • packets /s sent

I want…

  • Gigabytes Sent this day

  • Gigabtyes Sent this month

  • Gigabytes Sent this year

  • Gigabytes Received this day

  • Gigabytes Received this month

  • Gigabytes Received this year

Does anyone know how I can get the end result I want?

Or maybe instead of trying to do something with the UPnP is there a way to get the data straight out of DDWRT?

My router has the information in it, and I know there is some sort of API or some way to get that data out because this app exists and is able to pull that data.

Hi,

I had a sensor outputting live power readings via MQTT to HA in Watt.
How can I calculate the total power used / hour / day.
Is there any way that I can store the day’s usage and add it up to calculate the total usage for the month.

Thanks in advance.

Fix Home location?

My Home location is off and I want to fix it.
Updating the coordinates in configuration.yaml did not move it at all.
Also I added 3 zones via the GUI, but do not see them stored in the config file either.
Where are they stored?
In the GUI the Home location is not editable either.

Thus my question, how do I fix the home location?

Simulate sunset

So most lights now can simulate a sunrise but my daughter would like a sunset to help her fall asleep. She has a Phillips Hue and a Smartlife (soon to be changed to Tasmota) light in her room, both natively connected to a Google Home and Home Assistant (which will act as a gateway to Google Home for the Smartlife light once converted to Tasmota).

What’s the best way to simulate a sunset so the lights starts full bright then slowly fades and after about 20 minutes, completely fades to off? So far all I saw are sunrises, not sunsets.

Thanks

Ok, so the Turn Off TV script always works. It rarely works, like 1 out of 10, when I run my Night mode script, what am I doing wrong here? Is it some weird delay I need to add or something?

My pfSense router is set up to assign DNS server 172.27.3.3 to hassio.asgard.
My local domain is .asgard
My dnsmasq on my Pi is set to foward all .localhost and .asgard domain requests to 172.27.3.1 (my pfSense router with DNS Resolver running.
My Pi-Hole (on 172.27.3.3) Logs don’t even show Hassio querying for a DNS for hevo.asgard or hevo.localhost

I saw this thread: Name resolution problem since 0.97.2

But executing it as a shell command fails with 'No such file or directory ‘hassio’
And executing it from SSH fails with ‘dns’ invalid option.
I’m running Supervisor 200
This used to work, but lately, it has stopped and the only way I can get it to work is to hard-code the actual IP address for hevo.asgard - which it just not acceptable as it negates the whole purpose of a local DNS resolver.
Looks like the Supervisor auto updates?
How do I turn that OFF!?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Home Assistant 0.105.3 + RouterOS 6.46.3 = No CapsMan device tracking

@hamele0n wrote:

Hello!
I recently upgraded Home Assistant to version 0.105.3 and Mikrotik HEX POE to version 6.46.3. After that, the device tracker stopped requesting information from CAPsMAN, which is configured on Mikrotik, now tracking works only on DHCP, which does not suit me at all. Initially, Mikrotik was configured through a yaml file, I tried to configure it through integration, but this did not work.
I want to note that in the bundle of versions of Home Assistant 0.105.2 + RouterOS 6.46.2 everything worked fine.
What could cause the problem?

And when below 52%, stop it again.
I can’t get it to fire. The stop part works, but it never starts automatically.

Adding things to areas

@nickrout wrote:

I feel silly asking, but I cannot figure this out. I have several entities/integrations/devices that I want to allocate to Areas. I feel like tidying stuff up ready for when areas become more useful. I have not been consistent with this when adding integrations.

Version 0.105.3 running in docker. Just plain docker running what is now called HA Core.

So in the UI I go to Configuration|Areas. I can add areas. On the areas page it says

To place devices in an area, use the link below to navigate to the integrations page and then click on a configured integration to get to the device cards.

I click the link to the integrations page, I get what I expect, a number of integrations. For example the top one is Brother Printer: blahblah model and serial number or whatever.

I click on it and I get a page with header

Device Manufacturer Model Area Integration Battery

Under Area it has No area. I click on the line and I get a page with cards for

  • the device name and serial
  • Entities
  • Automations
  • Scenes
  • Scripts

Nothing about areas. No matter what I click on, no area stuff.

Where next? Thanks for any help.

Battery powered devices and is_active state true

@docnjt77 wrote:

hi

If you have battery powered sensors which are set to wake up and talk to Home Assistant every 24 hours as it should if the state value of ‘is_active’ = true does this mean that the sensor is constantly awake and draining battery power? so should the device be showing ‘is_active’ = false?

Also if you change this state value for the device in Home Assistant to false does this actually communicate back to the sensor to change it?

cheers

Best practice wrt renaming entities

@cmartens wrote:

Hi all,

I am wondering if there are any best practices in place wrt renaming entities, especially with Z-Wave. I know that it is possible to change the friendly name, but what about the entity ID? Is it clever to also update the entity ID? And if so, what kind of strategy (naming rules) do you use for this topic?

What is the best and/or most easy method to update the names of the entities? Are you using the Home Assistant UI or are you manually editing yaml files? If so, which menu options or yaml files do you use for this topic?

Please let me know how you are dealing with this. Thanks in advance for you reaction.

Warm tips:

Please check if the smart LED bulb has any abnormal noise, damage, fracture or other problems during the transportation process. If there is any damage, please contact the manufacturer at once. If the device is intact, please power on the bulb, and check whether the smart LED bulb is at the default factory mode, which means colors of this bulb when it is powered on will be changing by this order: red→green→blue→white→normal color.

Note: If the smart LED bulb is not at the default factory mode (i.e., red→green→blue→white→normal color), please power on the smart LED bulb three times, repeatedly, it will set the bulb to factory mode.

I had an idea about using my currently DHT22 outside sensor as a rain sensor as well.
I have observed that when starts raining the temperature always drop at least 1 degree Celsius in a 2 minutes window.
But I have no idea how to make an automation to detect that drop in that window time.

Somebody with more experience could enlighten me ?

Secure MQTT using openssl do I need user/password?

@AverageGuy wrote:

I have two mqtt servers, one running on the LAN with no access from outside, the other running on a VPS in the cloud. The one in the cloud is secured with openssl. The other has just a user/password. Neither are supporting critical applications, they are mostly test beds. My question is should I have also included a user/password for the openssl server? Maybe I’m naive in thinking anyone that can crack into an openssl server, wouldn’t have much trouble cracking a user/password in MQTT.

Thanks,

Re: 0.105.3 passing parameter to script from IFTTT not working

I have the following script:

fanspeed:
  sequence:
  - service: system_log.write

From within HomeAssistant Developer Tools SERVICES I can run the following:

Service:  script.fanspeed
Service Data (YAML, optional)
1 "speed": "off"
CALL SERVICE

In the log this produces:
[homeassistant.components.system_log.external] Setting fan speed to: (off)

From IFTTT I have the following:

URL: https://<mydomain>.com/api/webhook/<my token>
Method: POST
Content Type: application/json

For the “Body” I have tried all of the following:

{"action": "call_service",  "service": "script.fanspeed", "speed": "off" }
{"action": "call_service",  "service": "script.fanspeed",  { "speed": "off" }  }
{"action": "call_service",  "service": "script.fanspeed", "data": { "speed": "off"}  }
{"action": "call_service",  "service": "script.fanspeed", "variables": {"speed": "off" } }
{"action": "call_service",  "service": "script.fanspeed", "fields": {"speed": "off" } }

The first two result in the log message:
[homeassistant.components.system_log.external] Setting fan speed to: ()
The rest produce no message (i.e., the script is not called). That is, none of them work!

I am using google assistant to trigger IFTTT, which is working.

Please, can someone tell me what I am to put in the ifttt body field to get it to pass a parameter “speed” to my script?

Thanks!

P.S. I had it working before I upgraded (using the REST api and an api_password) as follows:

url: http://<my domain>.com/api/services/script/fanspeed?api_password=<password>
body: {"speed":"off"}

But I had to convert when I upgraded HA…

P.P.S.
For production I use {{TextField}} but for testing I an using the constant “off”.

Turn the TV off only when it's on

@juanv wrote:

Hello

I have an old LCD TV configured as a switch. I included the switch as a part of the universal media player. And it seems to work fine.

The problem I have is when the TV is off and I try to turn it off again, it will turn on.

The TV is controlled using home Assistant only through a broadlink rm mini and the physical remote is stored away. The IR codes seem to be the same for on and off.

This happens mostly when the TV is off and we call “alexa turn off the kitchen”, because the kitchen group includes the TV.

It’s the a way to keep the TV state and ignore the command when the TV is off, like the automation conditions?

Thanks
