Z-wave JS direct association of switch to Fibaro Dimmer 2

$

Hi.

I have a Fibaro Dimmer 2 connected to Home Assistant OS, but no physical switch on it. I would like to connect my Nodon switch to it, and connecting them up in Hass is ok. But, if Hass goes down, Im (my family…) is not able to control this light and that makes my life crap. Is there a way in Z-Wave JS to direct associate the Nodon switch to my Dimmer 2, and at the same time have them both connected to Hass? Could not find anything about this on the forum.

Thank you for any help.

Show dashboard on Dakboard

$

I have a Dakboard on which I show calendar, weather, energy consumption (DSMR reader, SolarEdge) etc). I recently configured the Energy dashboard in HA, and I love it.
So I’d like to show that particular dashboard on my Dakboard. Dakboard allows for retrieving an embedded URL. I have a Traefik reverse proxy that can be configured to allow Dakboard to fetch that page from ouside.
However… I have no clue on how to allow this in HA. I’m confused wrt users and how they can or cannot login or interact with the webinterface. I created a special dashboard, and created a special user, so when that user logs in, he gets the correct (trimmed down) energy dashboard.

But how do I go about removing the password from the user? I don’t see this as a security risk as the user is only allowed to view one single dashboard.

Aeon Labs Range Extender problems

$

After the latest homeassistant update my Zwave network is not working anymore, don’t know if it was just a coincidence or something in the update…

I have an Aeon Labs Z-Stick Gen 5 USB controller connected to the RPi 4, with two Aeon Labs range extenders 6 and a number of battery powered PIR and door/window sensors.
I am using the official Zwave JS working in pair with ZwaveJs2MQTT in control panel mode only. When I first switched from OpenZwave it was one of the recommended configuration as it was using the best from both.

The problem started when the first extender was pronounced dead and after some struggling with it I decided to remove it, factory reset and pair it again with the controller, which kinda worked. In the same time, my NodeRed automation for switching on the lights when motion was detected also stopped working. As it happened before (always after the ZWave JS update) and after a while it would start working again, I wasn’t paying much attention to it, but this time it didn’t come back.
Checking the range extender which has the sensors as neighbors it lost completely the manufacturer info, product and product code info.
So I tried to re-interview but without success. It seems to me that the extender is working and communicating with the sensors, ie the led blinks when the door is opened closed and also when the PIR sensors are triggered, but that’s it.
On the network map the extender shows it’s neighbors but the controller is not listed. I have only two zwave devices that show as connected to the controller, one door sensor and the newly readded extender. The rest are not connected to anything.

Is this some kind of misconfiguration from my side?
I did try to interview from the ZWaveJS and from the control panel of ZwaveJS2MQTT.
It is a little confusing configuration for me, as the ZwaveJS addon is not started but it is showing in the integrations.

Should I reset the extender as I did with the first one or…?

Please help.
Igor

Run (Domoticz) Python scripts in HA

$

I am in the progress of migrating from Domoticz to Home Assistant for various reasons.
On Domotics I have a couple of (sometimes complex) Python (3.6) scripts. they include the lot: imports, classes, methods, file handling, json and more.
I am running Home Assistant OS on a RPi 4B and thus I can’t access the Linux OS nor the Linux file system to install Python and run my scripts.
the scripts are reading data from a Goodwe inverter, from a Zehnder ventilation unit etc. no integrations for these devices yet.
Although I browsed through the HA documentation I could not find something usefull to help me set up my Python programs under HA.
Is there any documentation how to run python scripts in HA.

63a eWelink WIFI smart switch / energy meter

$

Hi All,

I recently purchased a smart switch / energy meter - with the main intent of using it to read the energy data.

It integrates using the eWelink smart home Add-on - which displays the power consumption, etc on the add-on screen.

However the add-on only exposes the Switch to Home Assistant - and I can’t seem to get to the power consumption values - to add them to a Home assistant dashboard, etc

Anyone have experience with this unit to achieve that?

New template defaults in 2021.11

$

I may have missed it in the breaking changes but it seems they sneaked in another requirement to include deafault for | int.

(Full disclosure… I knew it was coming as I had heard about in the forum)

But anyway, I’m getting the warning:

Template warning: 'int' got invalid input 'unavailable' when rendering template '{% set sensor_used = states('sensor.light_level_sensor_being_used') %} {% set light_level_value = states('sensor.' + sensor_used) | int %} {% set sensor_threshold = states('input_number.hall_' + sensor_used +'_sensor_threshold') | int %} {{ light_level_value <= sensor_threshold }}' but no default was specified. Currently 'int' will return '0', however this template will fail to render in Home Assistant core 2022.1

But I would have thought that with my availability it should bnever even evaluate the state template?
What have I missed or done wrong?

How to get data from the DSMR smart energy meter to my Home Assistant VM

Hi,

I’m running Home Assistant in a VM on an old Windows machine, which is on the first floor. My energy meter is on the ground floor and compatible with the DSMR integration. What would be the best way to get the data from the P1 port on my smart meter, to the VM.

I have a Raspberry Pi laying around that I don’t use. Should I install a second instance of Home Assistant on that and connect it (via a P1 to USB cable) to the smart meter? How would I then go ahead and get the energy data to my main instance for Home Assistant on the Windows machine?

Integration of a shelly1 with Tasmota 9.5.0

$

Hello!
I am a beginner and I try to integrate a shelly1 to my HomeAssistant (HA) system
I loaded the Tasmota 9.5.0 to my shelly. I can see this device and I can configure it.
In the HA I installed the MQTT broker as well as the Tasmota extension.
I tested the MQTT broker of the HA using the MQTT explorer. It works find, I can publish a message in the MQTT explorer and se the result in the HA MQQT debug page. Also I can publish something in the debug section of the HA.
In the Tasmota MQTT configuration I entered the IP address of the HA system as the IP address of the MQTT broker. I did not change any ports.
The MQTT configuration of HA is:

logins:
- username: mymqtt
    password: xxxx
customize:
  active: false
  folder: mosquito
certfile: fullchain.pem
keyfile: privkey.pem
require_certificate: false
anonymous: false

The Tasmota device is not able to connect the MQTT broker.
The message is: Connect failed to 192.168.178.93:1883, rc 5. Retry in 120 sec
Has somebody a hint for me, what went wrong?
Best regards
Hans

Automation error - "Message malformed: Integration '' not found"

$

Hi All,

Is there something wrong with HA?. I’ll explain. I have a PI4 with SSD and HA .
I have four automations running, I tried to make another one. When I want to save, I get this message:

“Message malformed: Integration ‘’ not found”

Ive switched recently from SD-card to SSD-disk, so I thought that that was the reason. Switched them back, no luck, same error.

So I installed a fresh HA on a USB-stick, same error (Raspberry PI imager)
Installed a fresh DietPi with HA, same error
Downloaded the OVA, dragged in ESXI, started HA, tried to add and save a automation, same error.
Installed clean HA on USB-Stick (Balena(https://github.com/home-assistant/operating-system/releases/download/6.6/haos_rpi3-64-6.6.img.xz)), same error

At this point I have three versions running of HA (ESXI, Pi3 en Pi4), all with the same anoying error.
The ESXI and Pi3 have NO integration, still the error pops up

I did a sweep on the forum for identical problems, but didnt find any
If anyone knows a solution, I’m open for suggestions

Battery level not updating in HA with Z-wave JS

$

0

Hi,

I’ve spend multiple hours going through logs and topics but it’s starting to drive me crazy, please release me out of my misery

Problem

Since a few months I migrated from OZW to Z-wave JS and I’m loving it so far. I re-paired all my devices and started fresh only to find that my battery levels aren’t reporting under Z-wave JS like they used to under Open Z-wave. I don’t see any updates of my battery state in the logbook, don’t have any errors in the log and have tried waking up my battery powered devices multiple times.

They function without problems (when the batteries aren’t dead) and I can see all Z-wave traffic in the logbook. The problem spans all of my battery powered devices from motion sensors to door/window sensors and a keypad from different brands (Zipato, Neo Coolcam and Vision Security).

When I pair a new device it will adopt the current battery level (mostly 100%) but after that it will never update. When a device dies it will sometimes update from 100% to 0%. When I then replace the battery it will stay at 0%. Opening the device, healing the device, healing the network, reloading the Z-Wave addon or restarting the entire system does not resolve the issue.

What I’ve tried

  • Rebooting the system
  • Reloading the integration
  • Restarting Home Assistant
  • Repairing the device
  • Waking the device up manually multiple times
  • Heal the network
  • Re-Interview the device
  • Update everything to the latest version
  • Add new sensors from other brands

Platform & integrations

  • Hardware: Home Assistant Blue
  • Version: core-2021.11.2
  • Installation Type: Home Assistant OS
  • Development: false
  • Supervisor: true
  • Docker: true
  • Python Version: 3.9.7
  • Operating System Family: Linux
  • Operating System Version: 5.10.75
  • CPU Architecture: aarch64
  • Z-wave JS: 0.1.47

I use the official Z-wave JS integration and I’m not running ZwaveJS through MQTT.

Screenshots

I use new and older batteries to see what would happen but this is the battery state for months now for all of these devices. I have no idea what the actual levels are.

It does say it updated the battery status 12 mins ago but it has a new battery for at least a month now and never went back to 100%

ps: my friends at work have the exact same setup as I and experience the same problems.

Node js installing in hassio

$

I have a raspberry pi with ha operating system installed.

For many addons, it appears that node.js is a prerequisite (eg ring-mqtt debug option).

I don’t have node.js in my os, so unless I have accidentally removed it somehow, it seems not to be included in HA.

I have tried many methods to install this but none of these seem to support hassio.

This has knock on effects with other installations that seem to be required for 3rd party githubs such as npm.

Initially, how do I install node.js?

Setting up Zigbee devices using Sonoff ZBBridge Tasmota 100 and MQTT

$

I’m trying to set up Zigbee devices to be controlled via MQTT and Tasmota10.0 on the Sonoff ZBBridge

All the components (Tasmota, ZB device, Broker, Integration) seem to be working.

I can publish topics manually on the MQTT Config page and control a device.
I can listen to topics and see devices status

But … there doesn’t seem to be either

a) and kind of discovery system (I’ve tried SetOption19 1 on the Tasmota console and nothing happens
b) any documentation as to how to set up configuration.yaml to access these devices

There are many simple examples that seem to define lights and switches in terms of a ‘topic’ that turns them off and on - but nothing that explains how to control devices when the ID is in the payload

Does any one have pointers to the appropriate documentation or examples? Or is there a discovery system that I’m completely failing to understand?

Androidtv source list ommitting Kodi

$

I have 2 Nvidia Shield devices, both configured in HA like so:

media_player:
  - platform: androidtv
    name: "Sitting Room Shield"
    host: 192.168.1.11
    device_class: androidtv
    apps:
      org.xbmc.kodi: "Kodi"
    exclude_unnamed_apps: true

  - platform: androidtv
    name: "Kitchen Shield"
    host: 192.168.1.17
    device_class: androidtv
    apps:
      org.xbmc.kodi: "Kodi"
    exclude_unnamed_apps: true

On both of them the default applist displays as per this linky,
However, even though Kodi is installed, and the correct package name, I can not get it to apper on the Sources List. If I manually open Kodi on the Shield, the source list on HA does show it, but it removes itself once closed on the Shield.

Anyone come across this before?

Is "hassio snapshots" still to use, or the "backup" feature?

$

0

Hi,
before doing much configurtations inside my HA (running HA on odroid), I will check and test the backup.

I find a snapshot feature (and scripts), and also the Backup-feature in the “Supervisor” corner.
Or is the “hass-cli snapshots” a good option?

In a logfile from a snapshot-script (💾 Create Automated Backups Every Day) see that the snapshot is outdated and I should use “backup”, so I’m unshure what is the correct way to get a good backup.

Should both working, and what “backup” has more “content”?
At the end I will copy the “backup” to a NAS (if disk broken/failure …)

I think, if I running (later) InfluxDB, Grafana, …; are this configrations (and database) also stored or have I to create own backups for this (DB and settings) ?

Thx for help,
Martin
