Truncate sensors value

$

Hi,

i’ve got this sensor:
{{states('sensor.last_fuel_top_up_ryd'}}
which gives me that value:
2021-09-13 10:43:20.296000

I’d like to truncate or crop the last 9 digits to show only date, hours and minutes. “round” doesn’t work since it’s not a number and “truncate” also doesn’t help.
Is there any other function I could use?

Ubuntu, Docker, HASS Core, and ESPHome

$

I’m brand new to everything, so my apologies in advance for the incorrect terminology and confusion.

I installed Ubuntu on a clean ssd in an i5, then installed HASS Core in a docker container.

It’s running nicely.

I would like to use some devices that require ESPHome.

My understanding is the HASS Core in Docker will not permit use of the ESPHome HA Add-On, right?

But, I can still run ESPHome on the machine.

I installed ESPHome and running: “Sudo docker images” and Sudo docker ps" both show both esphome/esphome as well as home-assistant.

And, I can run the esphome wizard to create .yaml files.

That’s as far as I’ve gotten.

I don’t have the esp hardware yet, but I wanted to be ready for it.

I really have no clue how to next proceed. I tried to install the HA integration and it wants a host and port. When I put in 192.168.1.193 and 6053 I get:

Can’t connect to ESP. Please make sure your YAML file contains an ‘api:’ line.

What should I do next?

Thanks!

Can a running automation be stopped?

Hi.

I’ve managed to write an automation which uses a repeat until loop and gets into an infinite loop sometimes.

I’m debugging this, but this is complicated by the fact I can’t see how to stop it. Is there some way on interrupting a running automation?

How do I scale a ADC Input?

I’m using a ESP-WROOM-32 flashed with tasmota.bin and I’m a beginner using Home Assistant. My pressure transducer is connected to a voltage divider to scale 0-4.5v to 0-2.44v for the ESP-32S. Can anyone point me to a example with the correct usage for Span and Zero? Everything I can find on the topic points to the use of ESPHome and I’m trying to keep things simple. I still don’t understand how ESPHome can benefit my project.

HomeKit - no way to remove old/disabled devices from list in UX

$

In the HomeKit bridge config editor, in the UX, it lets you choose items in a dropdown - however I have some older ones that used to exist and no longer do, and so the checkboxes don’t render in the dropdown, and the items still show in the list. Attempting to save results in an “invalid input” kind of error message.

Is there a way to edit the configuration for the HomeKit add-on when you did the configuration in the UX?

Thanks in advance.

Not getting events from AEON Labs DSC06 Smart Energy Switch

$

Hello,
I am migrating from SmartThings and my Z-Wave AEON Labs DSC06 Smart Energy Switch events are not reflecting in the Home Assistant UI.
I can click the switch in the UI, and the switch turns on/off, but when I press the button on the physical switch, the UI does not update. Needless to say, the energy information is not updating as well.
I turned on debug logging and received the data below when pressing the physical switch’s button on and off.
Sorry, I do not know how to attach them.
All updates are applied.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Customizing Last Output In Lovelace

$

I have two different sensors that the state displays the time such as 2021-11-28T22:36:27+00:00 and 2021-11-28 23:05:15-0800 but when I put both of them in an entities card one shows the last updated time such as “38 minutes ago” and the other shows “2021-11-28 23:49:16-08:00” however I would like for both of them to show like “38 minutes ago” but I cant seem to figure out exactly what needs to be changed to get the desired output. Ive been reading up on templates, but a bit confused and after trying a bunch of samples and changing the values to my sensor I’ve had no success.

These are the two sensors I’m trying to put into the entity’s card…

And this is the current output it gives me which Id like to change so that both show “xx minutes ago”

For the Fordpass entity I can get the “Last updated xx minutes ago” to show as secondary info but I want that to be the primary output figure.

Hoping someone can help point me in the right direction.

Template cover instead of the actual cover in the UI? set position problem

I want to judge the status of the window before opening the cover. If the window is opened, the cover will not be moved, so I added a template cover to replace the actual cover in the UI, but the set position never works. (open and close works well), I think it is a problem of transferring position, The position when the template cover position is clicked should be transferred to the actual cover
My code:

MFA via Notify One-Time Password

$

0

Hi all,

I was reviewing the doc on MFA and it talks about the NOTIFY MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION MODULE.

I don’t know if this is a dumb question but… is it possible to use native HA mobile app notifications for this? I know this may sound silly since I’m asking about using the app that could potentially be needing to be authenticated for an authentication request but: I think this makes sense in cases where you have multiple devices.

I verified that I have the mobile app notification working: I made a button that triggers a test message using the notification service (notify.mobile_app_pixel_5 in my case) and that does work.

But when I try to enable the Notify One-Time Password, it tells me " No notification services available.".

If this is something that’s not supposed to work: does anyone have any suggestions for notification integrations that would let you do this securely?

Note: I do already have totp (Authenticator app) set up and that is working but this sounds like it would be easier.

Thanks!

iCloud3 device tracker errors

Unfortunately, I’m too new to know what to do here.

Also, I’m getting this error in Lovelace where user is any person I have defined:

Entity not available:

script.icloud3_update_location_user

I’m guessing the script wasn’t installed?

Any pointers on this would be appreciated.

Problem with legrand

$

Hello,

I have come to explain to you my problem with Legrand.
I have 4 legrand cable outputs with netatmo for my radiators.
The cable outputs are configured in radiator mode with pilot wire on the legrand home + control app
and they work well.
I created 2 temperature schedules on the home + control app:
Comfort mode: 19 °
Eco mode: 17 °

I also have a netatmo thermostat which also works great.

In home assistant I see the netatmo thermostat (via the netatmo integration)
as well as the comfort and eco modes of my radiators.

My issue is the following :
In home assistant when I ask to switch from eco mode to comfort mode, the change is not made
not on radiators.
As soon as I launch the official home + control app from legrand without nowhere (just by launching the app)
my radiators switch to comfort mode.

as long as I do not launch the official home + control app, the mode does not change.
Do you have any idea to solve this problem?

Thank you

Energy monitoring how to make monitor sensors

$

Hi everyone,
I’m configuring the energy section into HA. I have this situation right now: I have two meters, (both shelly 3em cause I have a 3 phases line for my house and 3 phases solar panels). One is outisde the inverter and it’s looking the solar panel production, the other is right before the house consumptions so it’s looking the loads. I need to define now two sensors (which makes from the same equation by the way) which are returned energy and grid consumption. I can find them in this way:

Solar production - house consumption = if positive, feed in energy (returned energy), if negative grid consumption. How can I do these kind of sensors?

Many thanks.

History Stats | 2 days ago

Hi folks,

One of my children is quite sensitive to smartphone addiction and to keep an eye on this I have a sensor that measures when my child’s smartphone is unlocked. I made a separate dashboard in Lovelace that shows how much time it was unlocked. Now I would like to see the use of the past 3 days in addition to the current day.

To achieve this I made additional sensors via the History Stats. Showing the current day and 1 back worked fine for me, but unfortunately not 2 and 3 days ago, it’s shows Unkown. Apparently I have not configured the start and stop properly.

Can someone help me with the correct rules?

sensor:
  - platform: history_stats
    name: Smartphone A Unlocked Hours Today
    entity_id: binary_sensor.smartphone_a_device_locked
    state: 'off'
    type: time
    start: '{{ now().replace(hour=0).replace(minute=0).replace(second=0) }}'
    end: '{{ now() }}'

  - platform: history_stats
    name: Smartphone A Unlocked Hours Past One Day
    entity_id: binary_sensor.smartphone_a_device_locked
    state: 'off'
    type: time
    end: "{{ now().replace(hour=0, minute=0, second=0) }}"
    duration:
      hours: 24

  - platform: history_stats
    name: Smartphone A Unlocked Hours Past Two Days
    entity_id: binary_sensor.smartphone_a_device_locked
    state: 'off'
    type: time
    start: '{{ now().day-2 }}'
    end: "{{ now().day-1 }}"

  - platform: history_stats
    name: Smartphone A Unlocked Hours Past Three Days
    entity_id: binary_sensor.smartphone_a_device_locked
    state: 'off'
    type: time
    start: '{{ now().day-3 }}'
    end: "{{ now().day-2 }}"

Thanks in advance! :slight_smile:
