Looking for an example to synchronize Shelly 2.5 roller shutters (shelly integration)

$

Hello all,
I have the following configuration. 2 electric roller blinds in one room (one long and one short), both equipped with a shelly 2.5 each. The shelly of the long shutter is additionally connected to a physical push button.
Everything works perfectly in HA (with the Shelly integration) when I control everything via the UI. Now I would like to use the physical button, which should then drive both blinds and not only the one with which it is connected by cable.
My idea was to solve this via automations, but somehow I don’t know how.
Scenario: If you press the button down the long roller goes off and at the same time by automation should also go the short roller blind. If you press the button for stop, the long roller blind stops (because it is connected by cable) and the short roller blind should then also be stopped and its position synchronized with the long one (because it closes much faster). The same when pressing the button for the opening of the blind.
I have unfortunately no idea or did not managed to get this somehow.
I know that with 2 blinds it could be solved directly in the shelly via URL Action, but since I would like to implement this scenario with a master switch for the whole house, I would like to implement it with this simple example and then adapt it.
I hope someone has done something like this before and could post an example.
Thanks a lot!

Tail scale integration - not appearing in list of machines

$

hi all.

I’ve been using tailscale for external access to a few machines, both at home and remote and it has been flawless. I was happy to see a tailscale integration for HA recently and finally got around to updating and adding the integration.

It seems to have only partly worked. My HA can see all my other tailscaled machines online, and shows me binary sensors for their various attributes, but my HA machine itself has not showed up in the list.

I would have expected that the primary use for tailscale in HA would be to allow secure external access to my HA machine, however this doesnt seem to be the case.

Have I done something wrong, or is this a limitation of the integration?

Why port 554?

I’m integrated my foscam camera’s like this

  # FI9826W/FI9826P
- platform: foscam
  name: camera_gang
  ip: 192.168.1.102
  port: 2002
  username: !secret camera_gang_login
  password: !secret camera_gang_psw

# FI9900P
- platform: foscam
  name: camera_garage
  ip: 192.168.1.103
  port: 2003
  username: !secret camera_garage_login
  password: !secret camera_garage_psw
...

Added these to a card and it works fine

But when changing the camera view to “live” I get an error

I think the problem is the port…why is he using 554 instead of 2003 ?

Room Assistant / MQTT intermittent

Hey guys, struggling to get started with Room Assistant here. I’ve gotten everything set up and configured with (3) RPi Zero 2 W’s, just tracking one iPhone (BLE) to start. It works, kind of. Within HA, the RA instances are constantly going on/off line, and I can see this in the Mosquitto add-on logs as well:

My 3 RA instances are IP x.x.x.191, 192, and 198, and you can see them connecting and disconnecting. I’ve noted that the disconnect messages show unique client ID’s, so I’ve ruled that out, and that’s 90% of any troubleshooting google has led me to. I’m not sure if this is a Room Assistant issue or a config issue or an MQTT issue, and I’m not really sure where to go. I’m pretty sure this intermittent connection is the only issue, when devices are online they seem to be accurately tracking my BLE devices just fine.

FWIW, I’ve also confirmed the wifi connection to the Pi’s is stable. This issue appears to be consuming a substantial amount of processing from the Pi’s, as SSH is sometimes noticeably slow to connect and interact.

This has me pretty stumped, and I’ve been at it for hours. Anyone have any tips? Relevant config files below, I think this is all that’s important.

Regarding the light, the remote sends only ON command for switching on or off the light. Then type is toggle in the configuration file.

light:

  • platform: rflink
    devices:

Zwave JS - Qubino AC flush shutters slowly becoming unavailable

$

Hi,
I have a Zwave network based on an Aeotec Gen5 Z-Stick, a Popp weather station and 19 Qubino Flush Shutter ZMNHCD, running on a Proxmox virtual instance of HA.
I migrated to Zwave JS about a year ago and since then lost 4 Qubino at different stages.
The last one happened during my Christmas vacation where I lost connectivity to 2 of them without any change in my configuration.
I tried to heal the network and the nodes but to no avail.
As the Qubino devices are mounted in a sealed roller shutter box it is very difficult to physically access the devices (and more than anything to put everything back in place).
Did anybody experience this kind of issue ?

Trigger an automation when an entity attributes change to below another entity attributes

$

Hey all!

I’m totaly new with the HA and HA automations. I installed in the last weekend so pleas don’t hurt me if my questions is trivial.

I try to make an automation wich is turn on my gas heater and pump when my bedroom thermostat current temperature is changed to below the selected temperature.

I googled and searched a lot of in this community but don’t find the solution.

My automation is this (sorry I wrote the code in hungarian language, if you want I will translate just let me know):

alias: Felső szint fűtése
description: Ez indítja a kazánt és a szivattyút
trigger:
  - platform: numeric_state
    entity_id: climate.bedroom_mts100v3
    id: '1'
   value_template: {{state_attr('climate.bedroom_mts100v3', 'current_temperature') -
state_attr('climate.bedroom_mts100v3', 'temperature')}}
    below: '0'
condition:
  - condition: not
    conditions:
      - condition: state
        entity_id: input_boolean.felso_futes_kikapcsolva
        state: 'true'
action:
  - type: turn_on
    device_id: 4fd58a97cdd145b60c8f0d32d5dd1aa6
    entity_id: switch.boiler_mss210_main_channel
    domain: switch
  - type: turn_on
    device_id: 4e93d65a895a5bce494f3b3235ac5bf3
    entity_id: switch.pump_mss210_main_channel
    domain: switch
mode: restart

I tried a lot but this trigger is never triggered when the temperature differetnion is move under zero.
What I do with a wrong way?

How to add a value to a sensor

$

Helllo all,

Who want to help an inexperrienced yalm user with a question that is simple for you bu I don’t know how to do it.

Ik heb de onderstaande sensors gemaakt:
verbruik 3626
begin 2087
verschil 1539
planning 1500
result -39

Next:

template:
  - sensor:
      - name: “Gas consumption"
        unit_of_measurement: “m3"
        state: >
          {% set verbruik = states('sensor.gas_consumed') | float %}
          {% set planning = states('sensor.gas_planning') | float %}
          {% set begin = states('sensor.gas_begin') | float %}
          {{ (planning-(verbruik-begin)) | round(1, default=0) }}

This works fine and gives the value -39.

Now I want to store this value in the sensor result. How do I get this done now?

Thank you for help.

Adding solar and wall charger data via client REST API

$

Dear,

I have an energy monitor (CEMM) that provides me data over a local API.
Now I want to use this values in my energy dashboard in HA.
For example, my solar output :
http://192.168.1.142/open-api/v1/mb2/realtime/
Gives me the result :

{"data":{"t1":[1641377395000,7906.34],"t2":[0,0],"electric_power":[1641377395000,908.3]},"totals":{"t1":[1641377404000,5633.71],"t2":[1641377404000,2272.62],"electric_energy":[1641377404000,5625.71],"electric_energy_high":[1641377404000,2245.38],"t3":[1641377404000,8],"t4":[1641377404000,27.24]}}

Where the value of T1 after the comma, is the value I need (in this case 7906.34) also a value for my SOLAR readings, it’s the overall power generated since the beginning (kwh).

Same for my car charger.
call : http://192.168.1.142/open-api/v1/mb3/realtime/
results in :

{"data":{"t1":[1641378664000,4259],"t2":[0,0],"t3":[1641378664000,0],"t4":[0,0],"electric_power":[1641378664000,7.2]},"totals":{"t1":[1641378667000,2526.85],"t2":[1641378667000,1732.15],"t3":[1641378667000,0],"t4":[1641378667000,0],"electric_energy":[1641378667000,2526.85],"electric_energy_high":[1641378667000,1732.15]}}

Where t1 is the TOTAL amount of energy (kwh) used by the charger.

How can I integrate this in my energy dashboard, and where ? I’m just starting to use HA, so I’m new to the YAML config

Automations with Shelly Button 1 to notify battery low

$

I have a Shelly Button 1 built into HA with MQTT.
I would like the button to notify Home Assistant (via simple notification) when the battery is almost empty so that we can provide it in time.

I tried with this simple automation:

  • id: ‘889895656587455’
alias: Living Room Button Battery Status Notification
    description: ‘’
    trigger:
  • platform: numeric_state
    entity_id: sensor.batteria_bottone_lotto
    above: 5
    condition: []
    action:
  • service: persistent_notification.create
    date:
title: Living Room Button Battery Discharged
message: ‘The Battery Level is: {{states (“sensor.batteria_bottone_salotto”)}}%’
    mode: single

In theory it should warn me when the button reaches 5%, but it is not so, set to 5% before the button was at about 60% it did not correctly indicate anything, since it went down to 59% it continues to warn me about the battery status, and I can’t understand why, can some kind soul help me?

Bye thank you
Micky

Automatic restart if no internet help

$

Hi,

I got Home Assistant as an gift from my father and he have set up most of it for me. I’m really slowly learning more about it, but i still need a lot of help.

My internet connection have been unstable lately and i’ve noticed that every time i’ve lost internet my home assistant become non responsive. I’m not able to connect to it in any way, and it loses connection with google home and all my lights. The only way to restart it is by unplugging the power, and plugging it back in again. I really hate doing that since it can’t possibly be good for the software…

I want to make an automation that pings one website, and if it does not get any response i’d like it to ping a different website again. If no response is given then i want it to reboot. I’d like it to do this every 10 minutes.

Could anyone please help me with this?

Best way to monitor charge on apple watch and maybe apple AirPods?

$

Or maybe even other connected bluetooth devices like headphones?
Maybe i should use a bluetooth integration to track battery status on these devices, although one would think the logical place is for this to be supported by the HA iOS app.

I have a automation going to report when iPhones are charged, but would be nice to get that for apple watch or pods as well.

Or should i go the icloud3 route? That seems a bit much, then i have life360 running, home assistant app and icloud3 (icloud3 and homeassistant app seem redundant/overlapping, but i might not see the full picture here).

Would love to hear some thoughts on this.

iPerf upload fails, what am I missing?

$
0
0

Hi,

TL;DR;
Does anyone know the parameters given in the iPerf integration, cause I lack the skills to figure it out from the source at GitHub.

Full story:
I configured iPerf on my fully updated** RPi4. As a test I’ve set my Windows client as a iPerf server and it works as expected. However, when I select a public server the upload remains unknown*… When I test the public server using my Windows 10 client, both directions work just fine:

 .\iperf3.exe -4 -c speedtest.novoserve.com -p 5201
 .\iperf3.exe -4 -c speedtest.novoserve.com -p 5201 --reverse

So in summery, the integration works fine, at least technically, and the public server also allows testing up- and downstream. This made me think:

  1. the integration gives an instruction that isn’t understood/accepted by speedtest.novoserve.com
  2. the control message requires an open port that isn’t, aka my NAT router is blocking something

The logging from my ISP NAT router however is insufficient to debug from there. So I checked the source at GitHub, hoping to figure out the parameters given by the integration. I unfortunately wasn’t able to do so. So I wonder if there is anyone that can help me troubleshoot by sharing or:

  1. the instructions the integration uses,
  2. a known good public iPerf server that I can test with using HA, so I can eliminate my router/network,
  3. info on required port forwards/open ports,
  4. any other info that you think is useful

As always, I will report back my findings and possible solutions, so they are available for others.

Script with Repeat...While Loop causes memory usage to sky rocket and crash Core

$
0
0

I have been having problems with my HA setup since last October. After applying the 2021.10 Core update my RPi4 started crashing within 24 hrs repeatedly. I had not changed any of my configuration. I also updated the system to 6.0 (IIRC) so thought I might be suffering from issue #1119 affecting Rpi 4 stability.
However, I have now moved to a generic x64 installation and the problem persists.
My investigations have shown that at some point in the day (variable) the memory usage starts to clock up from ~10% and within 30 minutes it gets to ~90% and swap file is 100% utilised. This is when the web UI becomes unresponsive and automations no longer trigger.
I have tried a complete fresh configuration (about 5 times) and always end up with the same crash using just add-ons from the Supervisor and official integrations. I have a couple of automations and I have now correlated the triggering of one of them with the memory blow up.
The automation triggers when the temperature sensor reading on my hot water cylinder falls below a set level. When triggered, it calls a script to turn on the hot water boost function on the boiler programmer. The boost cycle lasts for a hour and then turns itself off. I have observed that one cycle of the boost is not always sufficient to get the water back up to temperature. So, the script uses a repeat… while control loop with a 15 minute delay at the end of each loop to check the temperature and the state of the boost switch and turn it on again if necessary.
I have deduced that it’s the script causing the memory blow uo by running off some hot water from the cylinder until the automation triggers and watching the memory statistics from the systemmonitor sensors.

Since the code was working when I first implemented it, I think it may be a memory leak in the Core’s handling of the repeat… while loop.

Can anyone corroborate this issue?
I’m posting my script below in case it is poor and the level of ineptitude is now being caught by the Core code. Please comment if you see anything wrong with it.

RuuviTag battery level and integration to alerts problem

I have several RuuviTag sensors that are at the moment integrated to Home Assistant via hass-ruuvitag.
The sensors are visible having entities for

  • battery voltage
  • humidity
  • temperature

Lately I added battery warnings for other devices via blueprint Low battery level detection & notification for all battery sensors

My problem with the RuuviTag’s is two-fold

  1. Sensor information for battery is milliVolts, not percentage value
  2. As the sensor is an entity instead of a device, there is no device_class (battery) for these sensors

Where I need some assistance is
a) How to create an entity that converts the mV value to %-value. The sensor works, to my understanding, until somewhere 1800 mV and the CR2477 battery has max mV around 3000 mV. So I need some kind of encoding of the mV to % in the ballpark of 1800 mV: 0% - 3000 mV: 100%
b) How to create a device and link it to the sensor so that I’d have the %-value from a) defined as ‘device_class: battery’ enabling the blueprint to work with these sensors too

Set binary sensor inside of automation?

I might not understand how it works, but right now i have a automation and also binary sensors set up as below:

# Washing machine, dryer and dishwasher states
  - platform: template
    sensors:
      utility_room_washing_machine_1_current:
friendly_name: "Utility Room Washing Machine Status"
        delay_on: "00:05:00"
        value_template: "{{ states('sensor.utility_room_washing_machine_1_current')|float > 6 }}"
        device_class: running

  - platform: template
    sensors:
      utility_room_dryer_1_current:
        friendly_name: "Utility Room Dryer Status"
        delay_on: "00:05:00"
        value_template: "{{ states('sensor.utility_room_dryer_1_current')|float > 6 }}"
        device_class: running

  - platform: template
    sensors:
      utility_room_dishwasher_1_current:
        friendly_name: "Kitchen Dishwasher Status"
        delay_on: "00:05:00"
        value_template: "{{ states('sensor.kitchen_dishwasher_1_current')|float > 6 }}"
        device_class: running

So i can use that sensor in a conditional card. But i wonder, why not set a sensor to true somewhere in the flow of automation? Wouldn’t that be easier and make more sense. Now it feels like i have to this up 2 times.

can I use a template? I try to do this but I did not succeed.
