Frigate RTMP no longer running

$

Hi all, atter this months update I have lost various things related to frigate.
Frigate is functioning and saving events but the mqtt events are greyed out including the coral inferance speed.
While this is an annoyance my main concern is that i cant access the rmtp feed that my alexa shows use to show various cameras.
Ive removed the config down to bare bones but alas no avail. I also cant see anything useful in the frigate logs.

Best Router for Home Assistant

$

A couple of weeks ago my old router died and I was at a loss to buy a new router. I was in a bit of a panic mode as I needed to get things back up and running asap. I ended up buying a Netgear Nighthawk Router RAX30 and I hate it. Mainly because I am finding out that it does not do what I need it to do with Home Assistant.

Would you guys be able to recommend a good router ($150 -$250) that does the following.
Single URL for Duckdns and Bitwarden (NaT Loopback/Reflection)
Presence Detection (When phone connects to home Wifi Ha knows your home)
Medium - Small Range (I only have a 1500-2000 Sqft Home)
Adguard (for some reason my Netgear does not accept the DNS from Adguard )
Nice to Have:
3-4 Gigabit Ethernet Ports on it

I was looking at:
Netgear
Linksys
Open Wrt (I wanted to find one premade not buy a Raspberry Pi and make a Router out of it. I saw one on the internet a long time ago but cannot find it again)
Arriss
Asus

I did look at Ubiquity but they all seem to be insanley expensive.

Thank you so much for your help (Maybe we can come out with a list of the best routers for HA and post it somewhere on this site?)

Can't get NWI to work with Zooz battery-powered sensors

$

I have a hub with the HUSBZB-1 zwave controller with the original zwave firmware version 4.32. I use Zwavejs2Mqtt as my zwave integration in Home Assistant.

I bought a bunch of Zooz ZSE41 and ZSE43 door/window and tilt sensors. They include slowly, but usually successfully including S2, when near the hub, but I can’t include them on location via network-wide inclusion (NWI), even if there is an included repeater in the same room. Nor can I heal their network after they are included, even if I push the button on the sensor 4 times to wake it.

Has anybody successfully gotten these sensors, or any battery-powered sensors, to successfully include via NWI in a remote location?

Thanks

Remove old Samsung Integration config?

$

So I’m having problems with Samsung TV integrations.
I have two different Samsung models, one older and one newer and the integrations with them have more or less always been fairly spotty to say the least. I have never gotten them both to work flawless with the same integration.

As of version 2022.03 my older TV stopped working using the default integration (Samsung Smart TV - Home Assistant ) and as of 2022.03.05 it is behaving irrationally to say the least.

I filed a bug report (Samsung SmartTV integration does not work after 2022.03 and onwards · Issue #68184 · home-assistant/core · GitHub) but the irrational behaviour is getting in the way.

As of now I have removed all of the config for the old TV via lovelace (nothing in configuration.yaml exists) but the debug logfile still shows new traces of ha trying do do something towards the old IP:

2022-03-15 19:04:59 DEBUG (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.samsungtv] Create SamsungTVWSBridge for name (redacted)

2022-03-15 19:04:59 DEBUG (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.samsungtv] Created SamsungTVWSBridge for name (redacted)

How do I clear ALL the config for this integration and start over fresh?

Opening light based on location change (based on time) and door locks

$

Hi everyone :slightly_smiling_face: I hope you’re all doing good!
I’m trying to create an automation that will open some lights inside my house when I get home and unlock my front door. TO be more specific, I only want to open some lights if both my wife and I gets home (Wife/Me : Any Zone / Not Home → Home) or if one of us arrives home and the other person isn’t there (Me: Any Zone / Not Home → Home, Wife not Home OR Wife : Any Zone / Not Home → Home Me not home). I thought about adding a condition when I unlock my front door and check who’s home, but I’d also love to use the zone change because I don’t want to open the light only based on unlocking the door if we’re already home. The thing is, I’m assuming it will detect that I’m home before I get to my door, which means the timing is an issue.
Do you have an idea on how I can implement something like:

if ((Wife and I / Wife without Me / Me without Wife) arrived home now or in the last 5 mins && door unlock)
{
    turn lights on
}

It seems easy to do, but I don’t know if there’s a mechanism already in place to start a timer when I arrive in the “Home” zone and verify it’s state when I unlock my door.

I’d really appreciate some help!

Thanks.

Github integration issues

$

When I try to reinstall Github integration I get Service is already configured and I am unable to install or remove the github integration.

Initially I tried installing the Github Integration, but I was only able to configure my own public github repositories. Even after starring private repositories I am a member of I was still not able to add them.
So after removing my own repositories I can no longer install the Github integration.

Steps I have taken to resolve:
I have tried to setup the github integration manually according to:
Home Assistant How To - integrate GitHub and track repositories - YouTube Home Assistant How To - integrate GitHub and track repositories by BeardedTinker

with no success.

After reading the source for this integration I am still confused as to where this integration configuration is stored. I tried dumping tables from the sqlite database but cannot find this integration or related configuration. The home-assistant.log has no
information regarding this integration.

Finding help online has been difficult because almost every HA integration mentions github in some capacity.

I am a developer but not super great with python. I am a Home Assistant newbie.

Any pointers on where to look would be greatly appreciated.

Setting up the UB400 Bluetooth Receiver within VirtualBox on MacOS

I’m trying to get bluetooth working on my HA setup which is running on VirtualBox on a macOS host machine but I can’t seem to get the integration to work with the dongle and have tried various troubleshooting steps before posting. According to VirtualBox it shows that the usb dongle has been “captured” (screenshot included below) and the error I see within HA is…

Wiz integration reported as not supporting configuration via the ui

I have been using the HACS Wiz_Light integration and thought I’d give the native Home Assistant integration a go now that it has been released in version 2022.03. I upgraded to 2022.3.3 but I fell at the first hurdle. When I try to add the integration:

Configuration - Integration - Add Intergration - Wiz

I get the message that this integration does not support configuration via the ui (see attached screenshot).

Has anyone had any success with this new integration?

Can I use Smart TVR (considering Drayton Wiser) with HA without any Smart Thermostat

$

0

Hi,
New here.
I have been considering to create my own HA for a while.
I live on a rental so my house does not have any smart systems, and whatever I install, needs to be easy to replace when I move to another house.
I want to start with a heating system, so I was considering to add some TVR to some rooms and be able to control them separated from the main heater system.
I know that won´t be as good as having the whole system integrated, but If I can stop some radiators some time of the day when we are not at home or when I am working on the office, that will improve the system.
So, the question is about hardware to start.

  • Is it possible to buy some smart TVR and connect them to HA without using any hub or smart thermostat and without connecting them to the main heater?

My idea is to buy some room thermostats and use HA as the hub.
I was considering the drayton wiser ones, but I am not sure if that is possible without the whole system connected.

Thanks!

No NAT loopback / DuckDNS / NGINX / AdGuard

$
0
0

I’ve recently moved to a new ISP, received a new router which unfortunately does not support NAT loopback. Concretely, this means that when I set up DuckDNS to access my Home Assistant instance from an external network, I cannot use the same DuckDNS URL when on my LAN but I need to use my Raspberry Pi’s (on which I’ve set up Home Assistant Container) internal IP.

So, the as-is situation is as follows:

Accessing HA from LAN: https://192.168.x.x:8123
Accessing HA from external network: https://xxx.duckdns.org

This is what I want the to-be solution to be:

Accessing HA from LAN: https://xxx.duckdns.org
Accessing HA from external network: https://xxx.duckdns.org

I’ve been struggling with this a couple of days now, doing a lot of research and reading several articles. At this stage, I am very close to get it to work. I’ve used the following sources for setting everything up so far:

  • DuckDNS setup (followed this guide from start to end)
  • Split Brain DNS (in this section they talk specifically about routers which do not support NAT loopback / hairpin NAT, so I’ve followed these instructions + the instructions about reverse proxy with NGINX)
  • Reverse Proxy with NGINX (I’ve read that a solution for routers which do not support NAT loopback is to use a reverse proxy)
  • NGINX Proxy Manager (Followed these instructions to set up NGINX Proxy Manager on my Raspberry Pi as well, and created a “Proxy Host”, see below)

NGINX Proxy Manager setup (I’ve also configured the SSL tab):

DNS Rewrite defined in AdGuard home:

My HA configuration.yml:

homeassistant:
  external_url: https://xxx.duckdns.org

# Access HA externally through DuckDNS
duckdns:
  domain: xxx.duckdns.org
  access_token: 86a047fb-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

# TLS/SSL certificates for external access
http:
  # base_url: https://xxx.duckdns.org:8123 # Tried with and without base_url
  use_x_forwarded_for: true
  trusted_proxies:
    - 172.30.33.0/24 # Docker NGINX
    - 192.168.x.xxx # My Raspberry Pi IP
    - 172.30.32.0/23 # In Home Assistant we need to add the Docker subnet
    - 127.0.0.1 # Add the localhost IPv4 address
    - ::1                                # Add the localhost IPv6 address
  # ssl_certificate: /etc/letsencrypt/live/xxx.duckdns.org/fullchain.pem # Not needed anymore when NGINX is set up
  # ssl_key: /etc/letsencrypt/live/xxx.duckdns.org/privkey.pem

The port forwards on my router are 80 → 80 and 443 → 443 for my Raspberry Pi internal IP 192.168.x.xxx.

To test, I’ve manually changed the DNS settings of my WiFi on my phone to point to my Raspberry Pi internal IP (which is also where AdGuard is running on and the above mentioned DNS Rewrite is defined). Using AdGuard as my DNS server, I can access my HA instance on my LAN through the following URLs:

https://xxx.duckdns.org
http://192.168.x.xxx:8123

So far the good news. Externally, I still cannot access my HA instance. HOWEVER, when I change the port forward 443 → 443 to, for example, 443 → 24029 (just a random port), I CAN access my HA instance externally through:

https://xxx.duckdns.org:24029

And internally through:

https://xxx.duckdns.org

For some reason, externally it won’t work with port 443. However, as stated at the start of this topic, ideally I would like for both my internal and external URL to be the same, i.e. https://xxx.duckdns.org.

Everything is running on my Raspberry Pi on Docker (HA, AdGuard and NGINX Proxy Manager). These are the docker run statements I used:

Home Assistant Container

docker run --init -d \
    --name homeassistant \
    --restart=unless-stopped \
    -v /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro \
    -v /home/pi/Documents/home-assistant:/config \
    -v /etc/letsencrypt:/etc/letsencrypt \
    --network=host --privileged \
    homeassistant/raspberrypi3-homeassistant:latest

AdGuard Home

docker run --name adguardhome\
    --restart unless-stopped\
    -v /home/pi/Documents/adguardhome/work:/opt/adguardhome/work\
    -v /home/pi/Documents/adguardhome/conf:/opt/adguardhome/conf\
    -p 53:53/tcp -p 53:53/udp\
    -p 3000:3000/tcp\
    -p 853:853/tcp\
    -p 784:784/udp -p 853:853/udp -p 8853:8853/udp\
    -p 5443:5443/tcp -p 5443:5443/udp\
    -d adguard/adguardhome

NGINX Proxy Manager

docker run --name nginxproxymanager \
    --restart unless-stopped \
    -v /data:/data \
    -v /etc/letsencrypt:/etc/letsencrypt \
    -p 81:81 \
    jc21/nginx-proxy-manager:latest

I feel like I’m very close and I’m hoping someone can help me with this. Much appreciated!

Shell_command sensor for last modified date of files

Hello,

I would like to implement a shell_command sensor to get the last modified date of certain files in a directory. The command executes successfully from a VSCode terminal, but I can’t get it to work as a sensor.

Config:

- platform: command_line
  name: Last backup date media
  command: 'find /media/Upload -type f \( -iname \*.jpg \) -printf "%T+\n" | sort | tail -n 1'

If I run this from the VSCode add-on I get the expected result: 2022-03-14+00:29:11.1575092970, but not from the sensor. Debugging logging does not show any additional information:

2022-03-15 21:15:57 DEBUG (SyncWorker_3) [homeassistant.components.command_line.sensor] Running command: find /media/Upload -type f \( -iname \*.jpg \) -printf "%T+\n" | sort | tail -n 1

Motion Detection Automations Not Working Since Updating to JS Z-Wave

$

The JS Z-Wave update “broke” most of my automations, so I’ve had to repair each one manually. When I configure an automation to trigger when it detects motion it works as expected. When I configure an automation to trigger when the room has been empty for “x minutes” it never fires. Here’s what the trigger looks like

And here’s a history of the sensor showing it meets the condition

When I look in the trace, it’s completely empty.

If the detecting motion trigger works, why is the no motion detection not working?

Issues with creating some lights from the switch platform

$

I’m having a very weird issue. I have a bunch of Zooz light switches that are recognized and in Home Assistant. I’ve created a lights.yaml file to make lights out of those switches. It’s worked flawlessly for about 20 switches. The last four don’t create the coordianted lights, instead it creates “light.light”, “light.light_1”, etc. Sure I’m doing something stupid, but I can’t find the error.

Excerpt from lights.yaml:

 BACK OFFICE
- platform: switch
  entity_id: switch.fan_and_light_switch_back_office
- platform: switch
  entity_id: switch.closet_light_back_office

# MASTER BATHROOM
- platform: switch
  entity_id: switch.left_vanity_lights_master_bathroom
- platform: switch
  entity_id: switch.right_vanity_lights_master_bathroom

Everything above the Master Bathroom switches create the correct lights. The three master bathroom switches create the generic lights as I mentioned above. I’ve verified the entity_id’s are correct:

creates:

Anyone see what I’m doing wrong? Pulling my hair out.

Thanks!
