Automation help with HVAC and windows

I’m trying to get the following automation to work and it is not triggering when I try to manually test it or when I test the conditions. Wondering if anyone sees anything wrong.

Cannot discover google mini cast

I rebuilt my HASSIO installation. Everything works great but for the life of me I cannot get HA to discover my google cast devices.

Yes, they are on the same subnet 192.168.1.X

I try to add the integration and it says no google cat devices found on network.
I tried manually adding cast and devices in configuration file and after restarted still does not add them.

What am I missing? I’m running on virtualbox but that shouldnt matter as this worked on my last installation.

Roomba / invalid config

Hi everyone, very new to HA and getting things setup. Trying to add my roomba 670 but the UI is stating I have an invalid config. here’s the snippet of running the config check

Sonoff T1 light switch not listed in devices

Hey Guys,
I know this is such a newby question but havent been able to find the answer any where…

I have had T1 switches installed for 2-3 years… works great… until itead pulled IFTTT which brought me to home assistant a week ago.

With the front end (UI) of HA, I have been able to sort out most of my devices though my T1 switches are not listed in devices, only entities… there for it gives me alot of limitations with automations…

Is there something I have done wrong? is this a firmware or HA issue?? is this just in my head??

It's possible to easily play a Spotify playlist with the scene service

Not sure this goes here, not sure whether it’s been documentated already either. It’s possible to play a spotify playlist easily with the scene service. Example:

I’ve been able to run the source call alongside the playlist which makes it a lot more convenient than calling two services (select_source and play_media)

I have not managed to get the shuffle to work though

Change motion sensor icon

I have motion sensors via openzwave and other ways. The zwave ones give me a motion and a burglar one. I like that burglar icon and want to change the others as well. Is that possible?

Zooz ZSE40 MultiSensor sending Detected multiple times on startup

I have a Zooz ZSE 40 MultiSensor tied to a counter, to keep track of the number of times motion was detected. Unfortunately, I’ve found that this particular sensor will send 2 or 3 burglar 0x08 notifications every time I restart HA (and the network does a new query). I have to use this to create a template bianary, since it doesn’t have one itself that works. Has anybody else experienced this? If I weren’t using it for a counter, it wouldn’t be a problem (and probably wouldn’t even have noticed it). Anybody know if this is typical zwave sensor behavior on startup? Logs show it initially setting state to 0x00, which I assume it gets from the previous state cache, then a couple of Detected’s are reported for no apparent reason. While running, it seems to act as you would expect - no false positives.

Automation for area

I have installed a Victron inverter, I monitor for mains failure currently and want to be able to switch off sonoff’s I’ve added to an area called “non critical”.

I have an automation currently that does this per device, i.e. when mains fails I switch of each device individually but it’s a lot easier for me to have this area and add the devices to the area and then be able to tell it to switch off all devices in that area.

I have played around with the automations and cant seem to find a way to do this so not sure if it is possible.

Actually while typing this I started looking at scenes and by the look of it I could create an on and off scene for these devices.

I’ll leave this here as would like to know if the area automation is possibly and also think this may be a useful thread for others.

Turn on / off all lights

Hi all,

normally I used to call light.turn_on/off without entity parameters to switch all my lights.

Now there seems to be a new attribute area_id and my first impressions are:

  • I can’t call the service without entity or area_id any more - at least one is expected.
  • Calling an area_id with light.turn_on does…nothing and area_id is also not in the documentation for the service.

Where can I find detailed information about that? What can I do to just switch on / off ALL lights in future without grouping them or passing them as parameters?

LCN Thermostat / Change Temperature

Hi Everyone,

as beeing new to HA i was hpoing for some help in regards to setting up LCN. I successfully manged to add all light and was able to obtain the Temperature in the Room.

All in one unit, light switch, motion sensor, temp sensor?

Hello,
New here I was looking at openhab however HA looks much better for my needs.
We are starting our self build and I am currently designing the smart home in the UK. Is anyone aware of a light switch, that has a built-in motion sensor (to auto turn on the light, be good if it could double up for the alarm when armed hey!) and temp sensor doe the room? It would be ideal as less wiring!
What smart light switches are you using?

Replacing devices

I am replacing several zwave devices with sonoff basics. Is there an easy way to do this so that I do not have to manually update each entry in various yaml files and node-red flows? Currently I’m using the switch.zwave_### and switch.sonoff_### naming convention, where ### is the device number. Was there a better naming convention that I should have used to prevent this from happening?

Video Surveillance SW - Docker

Hi,

I have a Xiaomi Dafang with Dafang Hacks CFW installed. Now I want to integrate it with my HA setup with the following requirements:

  • SW must run locally with no cloud attachment in a Docker Container since I am running HA on a Synology NAS
  • I want motion detection and event triggers on HA (For now I have motion detection disabled on the Xiaomi Cam since i think it would be better to have it done on the SW to cause less load on the cam)
  • Live Stream directly on HA
  • PTZ controll on HA
  • Ideally integration to save the recordings or at least the motion detection stills on Synology (via SMB/NFS share?)

Taking this in account what option do you recommend?
I have seen MotionEye, Zoneminder and Synology Surveillance Station.

No Access to Frontend via IP Address, Only SSH, IP ping Successful

Several days ago I had a prolonged power outage. After, I was no longer able to access HA via frontend IP address using either the internal IP, hassio.local, duckdns address, or HA phone app. I assumed a corrupt SD on Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and restored a backup successfully, but it did not restore webpage function. I am able to SSH to the device and an IP ping is successful. I can view and edit config files via Samba. Here is my HTTP config (previously working).

Ha core check shows intact config file. Attempted on multiple browsers (Firefox, Edge, etc). No success.

I checked the IP provider gateway and the public IP address is unchanged. All port forwarding is unaltered. Console command ‘ha dns info’ shows proper host dns address. Screenshot (262)

When I initiate console command ‘ha core restart’, the following error appears in the log:
TypeError: _update() got an unexpected keyword argument ‘external_url’

Modbus Digital Inpunt and Digital Output

I bought the following test equipment.

It is set up and working

My goal would be to connect your inputs and outputs as follows.
The digital inputs on switches.
And the digital outputs on ordinary lamps.

When I turn on the lamps directly through the Home Assistant panel, they receive the command instantly.

When I turn on the lamps by the switches that activate the digital inputs, which are the triggers for changing the state of the digital outputs, the activation of the lamps takes time.

For the researches that I did the Home Assistant the minimum time to search for modbus updates is 1 s so the delay

Does anyone have any idea how to get around this problem

Re-install or Change IP On Custom Component? (Lutron)

I upgraded to a Unifi Network. My IoT network used to be 192.168.20.0/24 , and now it is 192.168.15.0/24 . My Lutron Hub is picutred here and I’m wondering - can I just edit the IP in this JSON? Or do i have to uninstall / re-install the custom component

Help With Wemo Insight History Carrd

I have a Wemo Insight plug that allows me to track wattage. When I add this to my 0.111.4 HA card I only get the on/off history. How to I get Lovelace to show an actual graph of wattage user over time?
