Trying to install Broadlink RM4 Pro and am missing the Remote: Learn command that should be under dev tools/actions. I’ve updated everything and restarted but nothing shows. Installed and uninstalled and installed Broadlink as well. Is there a way to manually add this?

Exclude directories from backup

$

(Seen a few similar posts from years ago but none since the major backup refactor earlier this year).

Currently the default automatic backup settings seem to include every directory inside my installation’s root hass directory. This happens to include data directories for a bunch of other services I run that are “independent” from homeassistant (influx, esphome, z2m, etc). As a result, my backup sizes are huge (~45gb), take hours to generate, and regularly cause issues for homeassistant.

Is there a way to configure the backup settings to exclude certain directories? Currently, the only option I see to configure backup contents is “Home Assistant settings” (on by default) - no other option to select contents/directories.

More generally, I was expecting HA backups to do something more sophisticated than only tar’ing up the working directory. If I can confirm that’s all it is intended to do, I can easily manage backups myself outside of HA

Use NodOn Wall Switch CWS-3-1-0x in Homeassistant?

I’m currently switching from a Fibaro HC2 to HomeAssistant.
I’m currently in the process of migrating the first components and am trying to program a NodOn wall switch in my home automation system using the Z-wave JS UI.
Unfortunately, my home automation system isn’t recognizing the remote during the program, and now I’d like to know if it’s even compatible.

Hello,

I’ve recently been exploring the folders of my Home Assistant, and found the .cache folder that keeps getting bigger.

myuser:/config/.cache# du -d1 -h
1.2M ./wheels
783.1M ./http-v2
8.0K ./selfcheck
784.3M .

Can I safely remove those folders ?

Thanks !

Adding a "switch" in the App to manually run a Automation

I want to send a range of commands to a Solar Inverter, bij manually clicking on an on/off “switch” in the App. So that visual “switch” itself is not connected to any existing device. It must only run two automations, one which it is switched ON, and another automation when it is switched Off.

How?

iBeacon not showing states in automation

I have purchased this iBeacon https://www.feasycom.com/fsc-bp108b and it connected fine to my HA. However, I am not able to do any automation as the offered states do not correspond to what is shown in the logs. So no automations are started with either enter zone or leave zone. The logs show detected away and detected at home, and neither triggers entering or leaving a zone.

IMAP Folder Alerting on non-Received Email

$

I’m trying to create an automation which will monitor an IMAP folder and alert if a matching email is not received for 10 days. The thought was to check using an automation and update a sensors timestamp. Then a second automation would check the age of the sensor timestamp and alert.

The alert works fine apart from generating a new message each time I run the automation, I’m not sure how to stop that such that it only alerts on a new email.

Entity Cards now Misbehaving

Some recent changes within HA seem to have changed the behavior of the entity cards.

Consider my card to easily toggle various automatons. Below:

When I disable an automation, I would expect the state to be Off, not On. Checking the States, I find in fact it IS off (below):

Code in the card… Clearly, the code is detecting the correct state (i.e. not “on”) and setting the color correctly. But shouldn’t the correct state be reflected on the page as well?

Cant Reach But Makes No Sense

This is a really tricky one to explain, but ive been trying to fix it for a few weeks and im pulling my hair out. Would appreciate any next steps as im stumped;

So I have worked zigbee setup, where I have 21 devices around the house. Mostly phillips hue bulbs. Now I understand that phillips hue bulbs act as repeaters…but thats an aside.

My HA server is in the lounge. I have a phillips hue bulb connects in the porch, which has worked for a year+ never ever fails.

Past the porch, in an outbuilding I have installed 10 ikea bulbs (spots) and 2 phillips hue bulbs. The zigbee integration just wont find any of them…i put all 12 into pairing mode, and it just wont find them. Imust have tried 20 times…ive reset everything…and the the cloest bulb are against the window which is only 10 feet from the porch.

Someone suggested that installing a zigbee repeater at the end of the house + one in the outbuilding would be a soltuons. So I bought 2, and flashed them with repeater firmware. I was able to connect one to the HA instance, but as soon as I moved it to the porch…it was out of range of HA couldnt talk to it. This kinda made no sense to me, as the hue bulb, which is slightly further away and works fine.

As a last resort Ive also installed a Tuya repeater in the porch…still didnt help.

I can see on the zigbee map that the porch light does have other lights connecting to it…but I jst cant understand how its just 10 feet from the outbuilding and none of 12 new lights can connect.

The only thing I can now thing to try is to buy this…

Can anyone help with my YAML Configuration please?

Sorry in advance if I’ve asked this wrong or included stuff I shouldn’t. I’m a bit confused by all of this, but I’m trying

I have been trying to fix this for way too long… I’m a new user and learning as I go. I’ve read, watched and used AI to try and find a fix, but just find myself going deeper into the rabbit hole

Every thing seems to work, as in will show the state etc on my floorplan, however the only entity (room) I’m able to operate from the floor plan is Dans Light (room)… I tried to adjust the position for each entity/room, but that makes the associated images not aligned…

SmartThings disconnection status in HA?

$

Hi - I’m a newbie to HA, but have been a SmartThings user for many years. Really impressed with HA at this very early stage (and much to learn), but had a question about my SmartThings Water Leak and SmartThings Motion sensors —> these sensors tend to disconnect quite often in SmartThings, but in HA I don’t see that they are disconnected (unless I look at the history of each device). I was hoping to see a disconnection status easily without having to manually look at history. Is this possible? In SmartThings app, they have a nice widget on the front page that shows disconnected devices that I can easily drill into. I appreciate any insight and certainly understand if not possible with this integration. Thanks.

Fronius Energy Day providing incorrect value to "Energy Plus" card

I have a Fronius Primo inverter. This unit provides a maximum of 5 KW instantaneously on a normal sunny day. Note that I live in a subtropical area of Australia where this is the norm. I typically generate 40 kWh + on a good day.

The Primo entity provides (in this instance) a value of 12Kwh. this value IS CORRECT for the current conditions at this time of day. the entity id is : sensor.primo_5_0_1_1_energy_day

However, when I populate the “Energy Plus” card with this value the result always shows 2 Mwh. Nothing that I can do will make the 2 Mwh value go away and show the correct value. Forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong place…

Add passive device to group times out - what to do?

$

Hi experts,

I am having difficulty adding Aquara Smoke Detectors (JY-GZ-01AQ/SD-S01D) to a group in Zigbee2Mqtt. Since it is a passive device it does not respond before the request times out.

I have a blueprint that links the alarms together so that when one goes off all go off. This however requires the detectors to be in groups and I have no idea how to achieve this since adding them constantly times out.

Any ideas?

Best regards.

Hi,

I am trying to integrate my amis device with the given rest api template, but it doesn´t seem to be up to date. This is the error at logs:

I can´t find any platform config at the documentation, which is provided. And here is my configuration.yaml, which I inserted:

Deep Links Using Upcoming Media Card

$

Has anyone got the deep link functionality of the Upcoming Media Card working?

I can retrieve the deep_link attribute value using, for example:

{{ state_attr('sensor.plex_recently_added_movie','data')[1].deep_link }}

However, if I try to use that info in the card configuration, it does not seem to do anything. For example, the following configuration correctly displays titles, fanart, ratings etc., but the results are not clickable.

title: Recently Added Movies
type: custom:upcoming-media-card
entity: sensor.plex_recently_added_movie
image_style: fanart
hide_unflagged: true
enable_tooltips: true
enable_transparency: true

(Incidentally, I can’t seem to get tooltips and transparency to work either, but everything else works.)

Does shelly bluetooth active mode significantly impact device battery level?

I’m using a Shelly gen 3 device as a bluetooth proxy to monitor, among other things, a SwitchBot thermometer / hygrometer. I learned recently, after the device went dead, that the battery status is only reported when the Shelly device is set to Active bluetooth scanning instead of Passive. My understanding is that this will have an impact on the power consumption of the SwitchBot bluetooth device, and potentially other bluetooth devices in range of the Shelly.

Is that true? Is the power consumption effect likely to be significant?
