How do I run to 2 Tuya accounts in the Tuya integration

Hi, I have 150 Tuya devices and get a lot of time-outs from HA talking back to Tuya which I believe is a rating problem.

I have split my devices into 2 Smartlife accounts and added the 2nd one to the integration but only 1 “hub” at a time will show devices.

How can I have both accounts showing devices at the same time ?

My original account has a linked TUYA IOT account but not the 2nd, Are they still a thing in HA now ?

How to modify behaviour of helper values on lovelace

$
0
0

Hello, I’m new to Home Assistant, so please explain if this can be done:

I’m trying to manage a complex heating control made in Node Red, and integrate it so I can control it from HomeAssistant dashboard, Lovelace.

To do so, I’ve registered the devices in Home Assistant and replaced MQTT actions with calls to NodeRed with “Current State” nodes to read values and sensors, and “Call Service” nodes to perform actions (turn off, turn on).

I’ve also created via Home Assistant helpers entities that will replace input and output variables on my automation, like “how many watts of solar energy surplus you must have to automatically turn on an electric heater or whatever device?” (a number, input value) and “How many electric heaters are suposed to be on right now?” (a number, output value), so i can parametrice it’s behaviour.

The thing is, when I expose said entities in the interface, they all appear as slider controllers with a stepping of one unit (type input_number).

I want to make output values as read only text values, like “%d electric heaters”, or “%03d watts”, instead of modificable slicer values (type sensor, for read only, and formatting output).

I want to make input values as sliders with steppings, or text numbers with increase/decrease step buttons. For example, the reserved minimal power draw should be established with a minimun of 500 and a maximun of 2000 wats, in 100 watts steps, so the slider would only have 16 possible positions (500w, 600w, 700w, …, 1900w, 2000w)

What I’ve read out there seems to sugest to create home-assistant automations that parse/correct/modify the behaviour of the value, or make read only duplicates (sensor), but I don’t see them changing the physical behaviour of the controller in lovelace, or how to make the values read-only.

Do I need to install custom cards to enable this behaviours, or is it possible with the standard cards?

Low Level Voice Assistant

$

Hello.

After days of googleing without finding something usefull…

I’ve home assistant running. The computer running home assistant is in the basement. And I have the Home Assistant App running. In the app when clicking on the “Voice” icon the voice control works. E.g. “Living room light on”. That is all what I want. No LLM, or other fancy things. And: No Cloud.

So is there any module which I can install on an headless Raspberry Pi? I’ve already a Raspberry Pi running and I can attach high quality microphone at this - hoping the whole living room is covered.

The only thing I found which can be used is “Rhasspy”. But there are a few years without any change and it can not be installed / compiled on up to date Raspberry OS because of long outdated dependencies.

The Home Assistant Voice Preview seems a very interesting thing I’ll sure take a look later. But the Raspberry is already there and I expect a better experience on bigger rooms with better microphones which I can attach to the Raspberry, but not the device of the “Preview”.

Is there something I havn’t found? I’m a technician: I don’t need a “ready for production” solution, I’m able to things on the basic level.

Thank you

MQTT Topic defintion

$

I have a Pixii Energy Storage Unit from which I’d like to get data for the HA Energy Dashboard. I can “listen” to the MQTT data stream from Pixii losing the HA Configuration Tool Listener, however only to Topics that contain several separate data elements.

When using the Topic pixii/status/253101100376/meter_ext6 I get the data for the whole Topic:
pixii/status/235101100376/meter_ext6 {“m_ts”:“2025-04-24T10:52:12.084Z”,“meter_a1”:13.9189,“meter_a2”:13.8863,“meter_a3”:13.8804,“meter_kwh_exp”:0.387,“meter_kwh_imp”:460.961,“meter_source”:“Front”,“meter_v1”:241.598,“meter_v2”:241.662,“meter_v3”:241.073,“meter_w1”:3359.8,“meter_w2”:3353.76,“meter_w3”:3344.72}

I only want wto parts of the topic as separate sensors, namely “meter_kwh_imp” and “meter_kwh_exp”.

If I specify state_topic: “pixii/status/253101100376/meter_ext6/meter_kwh_imp” in the listener I get nothing.

Using my Configuration.yaml I get “Unknown” from these sensors:
mqtt:
sensor:

  • name: “Battery_energy_in”
    unique_id: battery_energy_in
    state_topic: “pixii/status/253101100376/meter_ext6”
    unit_of_measurement: “kWh”
    device_class: energy
    name: Energy To Battery
    state_class: total_increasing

  • name: “Battery_energy_out”
    unique_id: battery_energy_out
    state_topic: “pixii/status/253101100376/meter_ext6”
    unit_of_measurement: “kWh”
    device_class: energy
    icon: mdi:lightning-bolt
    name: Energy From Battery
    state_class: total_increasing

Obviously I have misunderstood the whole Topic thing or don’t understand it at all, so PLEASE, PLEASE help me to correct my Configuration.Yaml

Leviton dimmer keeps disappearing

I have a Leviton DZ6HD dimmer switch that seems to fail every month or so with the following message appearing on HA:

Device Was Factory Reset!
In-Wall 600W Dimmer has been factory reset and removed from the Z-Wave network.

I replaced it once about 2 years ago when the old one failed. Is anyone else having similar problems with these Leviton dimmer switches or could there be a HA compatibility issue?

Setting a room's availability based on computer activity

$

Hi,

I’m looking to set up a bulb that will change colour based on:

  • whether I’m in the office
  • whether I’m on the webcam on my (windows) computer
  • whether I’m on a call on my iPhone
  • whether I’ve set a DND mode switch on my streamdeck

Specifically, if I’m not in the office, I want the bulb to be off. If I’m in the office but on a call, then it should be red. If I’m in DND mode, then also red. If not, have it as yellow in work hours and green outside of work hours.

I figured that if I set up a helper as some sort of sensor, then I could change the colour of that bulb based on changes in that sensor. I could then set up a bunch of automations that change that sensor’s state.

My questions are:

  • Is there any existing solution for this?
  • How do I go about creating this sensor? As a text helper, a template sensor, a select template? If so what template do I define?

Hello everyone, I need some advice here is the whole thing. I have a 3 floor house, with tp link cable between them(XE75 pro-M9-M9), and then a bunch of miniR3 with bridge hub(3), and some philips hue lights on the bridge of philips. The plan is to move to zigbee all, been trying with Zha and ZBT1.
I’d like to remove some hubs of sonoff bc lately ( I suppose for to many zigbee stuff, they have been working badly). What would you advice for coordinator Zha or another. And to remove the hubs?
Thanks!

Help for a newbie - create a card that will turn on my HVAC fan for a configurable amount of time

$

I am relatively new to HA and trying to figure something out. I have searched around, but not found a close enough match. Perhaps somebody would be kind enough to point me in the right direction or to give me some suggestions.

I have a carrier HVAC which I have integrated into HA. I would like to have a menu driven option that would change the fan operation. I typically set it to “auto”. Under certain circumstances, I would like to have it on a constant run for a configurable amount of time. For example, I would like to be able to choose to run it for 15 minutes, after which it would resume to “auto”. The time should be something that is selectable. It would also be nice to be able to select the fan run speed (high, med, low) at the same time.

Thank you in advance for the assistance.

Returning dictionary from a template sensor

$
0
0

Hi,

I’m wondering what would be the correct syntax/method for returning a dictionary from a template sensor. I have a template sensor code calculating multiple values which would be of interest in the UI and I would not want to duplicate the phases where calculus is being done and just return single state but a dictionary with multiple keys.

So, I have a sensor in my templates.yaml specifying the sensor, here’s a simplified version:

    - name: "dict_sensor"
      icon: mdi:exponent-box
      unique_id: 1fc4c3c2-d5e9-400b-897b-31b5260249f4
      state: |
        {% set result = [
          ("value", 1),
          ("something", 2)
          ]
        %}
        {{ dict.from_keys(result) }}

In Developer Tools → Template editor I can test this sensor output and the problem is the result is not being recognized as a dictionary properly even if the result window shows the result type being parsed as a dict. Also, if creating the same dictionary locally in the template editor it works just fine:

{# Get dictionary from sensor #}
{% set from_sensor = states('sensor.dict_sensor') %}
{{ from_sensor }}
{{ from_sensor.value }}

{# Create dictionary locally #}
{% set result = [
  ("value", 1),
  ("something", 2)
  ]
%}
{% set local_dict = dict.from_keys(result) %}
{{ local_dict }}
{{ local_dict.value }}

…produces output of:

'str object' has no attribute 'value'
{'value': 1, 'something': 2}

{'value': 1, 'something': 2}
1
Result type: string

This template listens for the following state changed events:

Entity: sensor.dict_sensor

So, the dict coming from sensor has no attribute “value”. The dictionary defined locally has it. What is the correct way to do this with dictionaries?

Thanks!

Phillips Hue with HA Yellow Zigbee

Hello - I’m confused about how this works

I purchased a Hue light, model# 563007 Hue A19

The bulb says it’s Zigbee compatible

My HA yellow says it has a Zigbee module and can serve as a hub. I have the ZHA integration installed

I’m not able to detect the bulb to connect.

Do I still need a hub or Zigbee dongle?

Lights off at sunrise cause problems due to seasonal changes

$

So, the problem is that as the seasons changes, the sun rises at different times.

I have my outdoor lights automated to turn on at 06:30, and then off again at sunrise. This works well in the winter. But now its summer and the sun rises before my set “turn on time”.

Result: lights turn on at 06:30 and then nothing because the sun already rose before 06:30.

Is there a smart way to automate around this problem?

Window opener LIWIN ML25 &

$

0

hi, it’s time to ask
I have this window opener LIWIN ML25 S1 38H 0W 00 Window Chain Motor
it has 3 cables, 1 to open, 1 to close and a neutral.

To control it, i have a basic zigbee switch 2 gang.

On top of that, i have a magnetic sensor that is on when the window is open and off otherwise.

What i have now on my dashboard is this

Related code :

type: entities
entities:
  - entity: light.velux_relais_light
    name: pousse
  - entity: light.velux_relais_light_2
    name: tire
  - entity: binary_sensor.sensor_velux_opening
    icon: mdi:motion-sensor

(the zigbee device is seen has a light but it’s not the problem)

If i toggle “pousse”, the window will open in full. I can control the aperture on the device itself. The sensor is going from Closed to Open.
Now i toggle “tire”, the window is closing until it cannot go further. Sensor : Open-> Closed

The first issue is to open the window again, i have to toggle “pousse” back and forth. Idem for “tire”
Second issue, i have 2 toggles switch when i only need one.

Ideally i want something like this
Check 2nd post, cant put more than 1 embedded media…

  • 2 buttons, up and down and are greyed out 15s after clicking (maybe it’s possible to have only 1 button ?)
  • some kind of state :
    • closed, this one i know for sure with the sensor
    • closing after clicking the down button until the sensor trigger
    • opening after clicking the up button
    • opened 15s after clicking the up button

So i made a template/card that is not working correctly : the state is not changing and the buttons are not refreshing

cover:
  - platform: template
    covers:
      velux:
        device_class: window
        friendly_name: "Velux"
        unique_id: "velux"
        value_template: "{{ 'closed' if is_state('binary_sensor.garage_door_sensor', 'off') else 'opening' }}"
        open_cover:
          action: script.ouvrir_velux
        close_cover:
          action: script.fermer_velux

The scripts

sequence:
  - type: toggle
    device_id: d9c01287ee3ada2e5ed71ced77a2690c
    entity_id: d14a436cafe9c5666b4a76d2515070ac
    domain: light
  - delay:
      seconds: 15
alias: fermer_velux
description: ""
sequence:
  - type: toggle
    device_id: d9c01287ee3ada2e5ed71ced77a2690c
    entity_id: 1f95ec96ed6142e86b5d41b313d1c64a
    domain: light
  - delay:
      seconds: 15
alias: ouvrir_velux
description: ""

And finally on the frontend

type: horizontal-stack
cards:
  - type: custom:mushroom-cover-card
    show_buttons_control: true
    entity: cover.velux
    secondary_info: last-changed
    primary_info: state
grid_options:
  columns: 6
  rows: auto

Thx for your help

Unify Network bandwitdh sensor

Found the Unify Network integration
It shows me cpu/mem/temp OK, but It would be neat to have the long term bandwidth up/down. (unifi itself keeps the graph only for 1 day with any detail)
I do not even want client specific, just the overall, but I figure that would be the WAN port bandwidth monitor.

So the manual tells me to activate the bandwidth sensor on page 3 of configuration, see image. But I am not finding it?

I am looking in the wrong place probably, does anyone want to help me out?

Reset z-wave device and question about entity discovery

$

plugin: 4.1.0
zwave-js-ui: 10.2.0
zwave-js: 15.0.6

I have what appears to be a failing device, and Zooz has recommended resetting the Zen15.

  1. Am I correct I should first exclude the device? Otherwise when it is included after being reset I’ll still have the previous node which will now be “dead” and need to be removed as a dead node?

  2. How do I make sure that when the device is included again that the same entity names are used? Is it based off the device’s name used in the ZUI provisioning table?

  3. Or, is there a process to avoid the _2 entity names? Is z-wave node ID used by HA in determining if it’s a new node? (I’m trying to preserve history, of course.)

  4. In ZUI how is Replace node different than exclude and then include? Does it retains the same node ID? And how does that impact what Home Assistant sees?

Thanks.

Attempting local TTS to squeezebox notifications

$

So, I picked up a few squeezeboxes to integrate with my HA, and I had some door sensors laying around. Really loving the Squeezeboxes + LMS integration. Anyway, I figured I should be able to send announcements to them. So I built an automation when the door open for 2s to play a TTS notification. That works, but music stops playing. I found that according to the LMS documentation, an “announce: true” flag can be used to pause playback, send the announcement, then resume playback of music on LMS / Squeezebox. However, I have configured the following action and it fails to run, with this error : extra keys not allowed @ data[‘announce’]. Got None

action: tts.speak
metadata: {}
data:
cache: true
media_player_entity_id: media_player.red_squeezebox
message: Front. door. opened.
announce: true
target:
entity_id: tts.piper_2

Additionally, there are two other paremeters for announce_volume and announce_timeout. I can add these in, but I still have the same issue. I am not often edting YAMLs. Have I misunderstood the LMS announce functionality, or am I inputting the YAML incorrectly? Or is it something else / not supported ?

action: tts.speak
metadata: {}
data:
cache: true
media_player_entity_id: media_player.red_squeezebox
message: Front. door. opened.
announce: true
extra:
announce_volume: 0.2
announce_timeout: 60
target:
entity_id: tts.piper_2

Help with RGBWW LED Strip (WS2805) and Home Assistant – Warm White not working

$

0

Hi everyone,

I’m using a GLEDOPTO controller based on an ESP32, running WLED version 0.15.

Home Assistant is running the latest version available as of today.

My setup includes a 5-meter WS2805 RGBWW LED strip.

It has 4 wires: V+, Ground, Data, and a fourth blue wire.

I connected both the Ground and the blue wire to the GND pin on the controller.

Everything works perfectly via the WLED web interface – I can control effects and colors smoothly.

However, in Home Assistant, I can only control the RGB part. When I try to set a color temperature or use warm white, the output is still RGB-based – no proper warm white.

Does anyone know how to correctly configure WLED and Home Assistant so that true warm white (WW) is used instead of simulated RGB color?

Thanks in advance!
