So, I start a stable image with:

docker run --init -d --name="home-assistant" -e "TZ=Australia/Adelaide" -v /user/pirate/.homeassistant:/config --net=host homeassistant/raspberrypi3-homeassistant:stable

The config directory is empty prior to start.

I get the following in my logfile immediately after start, what gives over, Rodger, 10-4 good buddy?

Multiple Automations with the same trigger or one long automation

I think that if you have multiple automations with the same trigger, that they will both run at the same time (or nearly the same time). As in they dont have to wait for one to complete before the other can start.

I have a few fairly long automations for when I go to bed, and when everyone leaves. I was thinking that maybe it would be faster to create 4 or 5 automations with the same trigger. Like one to lock doors, one for the lights, one to arm the security system, etc?

First, am I right as in they would all trigger at the same time, and how does anyone else do it this way

I’ve been attempting to use Jabra 410 USB speaker/microphones with my two Rhasspy satellites (both RPi3B+) and after much trial and error, the microphone quality just isn’t good enough for accurate speech-to-text input. :frowning: I’ll keep the units as speakers/output, because in this respect, they’re great. Tonight I ordered the ReSpeaker USB Mic Array instead. I’m hoping for a much more accurate result.

How to achieve a clickable dashboard...going slightly mad

$

@daneboom wrote:

My project of the last few days has been trying to get a clickable dashboard of my local radio channels working. I’m 80% of the way there, I’d say.

I’ve currently got a few ‘picture glance’ tiles on a lovelace page pulling in the realtime ‘now playing’ images from the local radio website.

But I’ve got two problems:

  1. I don’t know how or if I can overlay the textual ‘what’s playing info’. I have this info as a sensor in HA, but I haven’t found a way to put this info onto the image apart from having an entity card near the image which looks ugly
  2. I’d like to be able to click/tap the image to start an automation which starts that particular channel playing on my speakers. I haven’t found out how to do this. Is it even possible with picture glance?!

I’m wondering if I might be better off trying to do this in floorplan?

Any help very welcome

thanks

HA works via hassio.local but not via IP address - strange

@VijayS wrote:

Hi , I have a strange problem at hand. I have been running Raspberry Pi3 / Buster/ Hassio / Docker set up for a long time now. I was running it via the SSD instead of a SD card but then the SSD started giving some issues so I re-setup everything on a 32GB SSD card and restored the version of Hassio from my SSD (via snapshots).
While everything is working fine the only issue I ran into is that I am not able to access the HA instance via the IP address - it was working earlier. It works perfect via hassio.local and via the duckdns URL but after this restore its stopped working via the IP address. A point to note is that the Pi is accessible via the IP address and I can SSH into it via hassio.local or IP address. Its only HA which isnt accessible.
I am not sure what config snippets to provide as evidence here to help somebody help me. below is the http section of my configuration file.

http:
  ssl_certificate: /ssl/fullchain.pem
  ssl_key: /ssl/privkey.pem
  base_url: xxxxxxxx.duckdns.org:8123

I dont see any errors in the hassio logs too. Can anybody tell me how can I troubleshoot this?

Hi guys,

I have just purchased Yeelight YLDD04YL LED Strip and trying to set it up with a home assistant, but it stays unavailable after manual configuration.
It is in a list of supported Yeelight devices (with a question mark), also I have the latest firmware and latest home assistant.

I can control it via Xiaomi home application but in Home Assistant it always shows as unavailable.

My configuration.yaml:

yeelight: !include yeelights.yaml

My yeelights.yaml

devices:
  10.10.10.203:
    name: Living Room LED Strip
    model: strip1

Did I miss something? Anyone has it working?

Homekit Devices unavailable after Home Assistant was updated - Homekit Controller

Hi everyone,
I’m running Home Assistant 0.103.6 in Hassio HassOS V3.7.

I have 2 Homekit devices that I add during the onboarding process using Homekit Controller.

  • Leviton Homekit Dimmer
  • iHome iSP6X SmartPlug

Both device are connected to my Wifi router and configured with reserved IP addresses in the router.

Those devices has been working great from Home Assistant 0.100.2 to 0.103.5.

After my update of Home Assistant to 0.103.6 this morning they were unavailable.

Log data was showing strange messages pointing to an invalid ip address.

They are display in my router ‘attached devices list’ correctly.

I’m trying to understand how to get the device responsive again and why the log show invalid Ip addresses for an accessory.

This is my first Topic since I started using HA last year and I really like it.

Trying to pass URL to media_player.play_media not working

@g92847 wrote:

I am hoping someone can help me troubleshoot this as I have tried for days to no avail.

Goal: Scrape page to get most recent podcast URL and pass that to media_player.play_media

I have created a sensor that scrapes the podcast URL:

configuration.yaml

sensor:
  - platform: scrape
    resource: http://feeds.podtrac.com/zKq6WZZLTlbM
    name: podcast_the_daily
    select: 'enclosure:nth-of-type(1)'
    attribute: url
    scan_interval: 900

Adding

{{ states.sensor.podcast_the_daily.state }}

to template returns the correct URL

https://dts.podtrac.com/redirect.mp3/rss.art19.com/episodes/e163ee32-7ae9-453e-a81e-a8c4e60a4c96.mp3

But when I create a script to play the media, it won’t work:

morning_podcast:
  alias: Morning Podcast
  sequence:
  - service: media_player.play_media
    entity_id:
     - media_player.livingroom
    data_template:
        media_content_id: >
          {{ states.sensor.podcast_the_daily.state }}
        media_content_type: audio/mp3

I have checked the logs and I am not getting any sort of error either. I have verified that pasting the URL directly into the script works, just not when I try and use the sensor.

Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong here? Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone one willing to shed some light on automations? I’m trying to setup my new setup and I can’t get it to run. Specifically using Zigbee2MQTT. I found very specific examples matching my issue but the accepted solutions don’t seem to work.

Control RGB Bulb Brightness with Dimmer via MQTT

@buckyfan wrote:

Hello. I’ve upgrade incandescent bulbs that were controlled by a Martin Jerry dimmer switch to RGBCCT bulbs. All devices have been flashed via Tuya Convert to Tasmota. MQTT is enabled and partially implemented. I think the error is in my MQTT definitions but I’m stuck. I want the MJ dimmer to control the brightness of the two bulbs. If I drag the brightness slider from HA, the bulbs dim properly and the display on the dimmer switch will match current state. However, if I use the pushbutton on the switch to alter the brightness, bulbs don’t respond. The slider in HA moves correctly, but bulbs just don’t see the change.

Fireplace -> Dimmer switch
FireplaceRGBx -> RGB bulbs
Fireplace Lights -> Group containing both RGB lights

Code from the lights.yaml file. I also set “Grouptopic” in Tasmota to “fireplace”

The command data in the first line 0x43, 0x01, 0x01, 0x01 is not correctly constructed. Size, Scale and Precision bit fields (the last byte of those 4 in bold) are incorrectly set.

Here is my XML entry:

                        </CommandClass>

Am I missing something in the XML entry?

I’ve scoured the forums, Reddit, and every blog I possible could… But I’m still running into major issues with this device & trying to get it on my ZWave Network.

I believe my issue isn’t with the inclusion/exclusion process, per se (I have a network key, it’s in the config and showing the config_entities now), but the fact that I screwed up when originally adding the device(key was in the config but not in the core_entities file)… Oddly enough, it created both nodes despite that fact. (see below)

So it appears that when I originally added the device, it showed as failed on the lock, but was actually added “properly” … I tried to add it as a non-secure device too, which also worked (but I wasn’t checking the logs or the zwcfg file – stupid me). So my next step was to factory reset the lock … I checked the zwcfg file at this point(added it both securely and insecurely) and noticed that two new nodes had been added, but had already reset the lock!

Here’s where the problem comes in … I have two nodes, one that’s not secure & one that’s secure for this device… only the one node(s) is showing on the HomeAssistant Front End (Node13) and (Node 14) is in the zwcfg file but not showing at all. I’m unable to exclude the nodes, even with the lock’s exclusion process … But I’m also unable to remove them, Node 13 is showing as is_failed: true … And I assume if I could see 14 it would also show the same value.

So when I click “remove failed node” in HomeAssistant, it runs but then errors out:

Any ideas/suggestions? I think if I can get both nodes removed, I’d be able to add the lock. But I’m not quite sure how to go about doing that at this point. Since I can’t remove the failed node & one node doesn’t even show up on the front end.

Thanks for any tips/suggestions!

Getting "Entity id already exists" error after connecting sensors to new Xiaomi gateway

@Swaq wrote:

Hi,

I have moved two sensors from being connected to one Xiaomi gateway to another Xiaomi gateway. Now I’m getting the error “Entity id already exists” in the log file. Sometimes the sensors are showing as “unavailable” sometimes they are giving values, but I haven’t been able to see a clear pattern. The sensors are a temperature/humidity/pressure sensor (158d0003d45086) and a motion sensor (158d0004470bb2), as can be seen in the log file below.
Both gateways are connected to the network and sensors, which have not been moved between gateways, are working fine. In the Xiaomi app the two sensors are shown correctly as children to the new gateway and they are connected and giving values as expected.

I assume that there is an old unique ID stuck somewhere in a configuration file and maybe being linked to the original gateway, but I’m simply unable to find it. I have checked in .storage\core.entity_registry but each sensor is only listed once.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan
