Smart Things - Virtual Switch - HA alternative

Hi Guys.

I am coming over to HA from SmartThings and i am still gettting my head around things. If i can give you an example of what i have in ST and hope someone can advise on how HA will work. I use Tado as my heating System and i also use Alexa for voice. As said at the moment i use ST, but also SharpTools but think i can ignore that point for the moment.

In SmartThings i have a Virtual switch device which is either On or Off. Alexa is able to see this Virtual Switch.

So it works a little like this.

1. Alexa boost Office
2. Alexa then sets this Virtual Switch to On.
3. SharpTools then picks up that the Virtual Switch is now set to on
4. SharpTools turns the Office heating on for 1 hour
5. When 1 hour is reached it sets the Virtual Switch to Off.

I am using the beta version of SharpTools HA intergration and this is not really a question or help with SharpTools. I am more interested in the Virtual Switch that SmartThiings uses. Does HA have the same ability or can i simply ask Alexa to boost Office and it turns the thermostat on?

Just trying to work out how to move my Smart Things stuff over.
