I’m wondering whether HA will be affected if I turn off multicast packets on my Ubuntu 18.04 NUC running HA. The reason that I’d do that is that I’m having a ton of issues related to my Synology MR2200AC access points where the APs kept getting dropped and reconnected from the network. I spoke to a Synology developer who ran some diagnostics on my network, and he confirmed that my NUC was sending a ton of multicast packets out which was knocking the access points offline.
I’m technical, but clearly not technical enough to understand the data packets being sent by the NUC. What I’m wondering is whether HA will be adversely affected if I were to turn the multicast packets off.
I had been using Room Assistant which does have Multicast DNS, but I turned that feature off after consulting with the developer.
For HA, I’m using Simplisafe, Belkin Wemo, Philips Hue, PS4, Harmony remotes, Zwave (through Vera), and Amazon Echos. I don’t know if that matters, but figured it would be better to know what I’m relying on in case that affects the analysis.
Thanks in advance and happy to provide more details if it’s helpful.
