Home Assistant is starting, not everything will be available until it is finished!

Hello Dear Community,

I did not have any problems since months but now something came across with the newest update.

Since this “Home Assistant is starting, not everything will be available until it is finished” function was added I get some problems. In the first few times this message came up for a few minutes after everything loaded properly it went away. Now its now going away, anytime I press F5 or refresh the page it comes again and again, and never going away. I tried to let it go away for 5 days in a row didnt helped. Tried also restart the whole server 15 times didnt helped.

On the Lovelace everything is loaded properly. There is no yellow marks it still needs time or something like that.

The log (home-assistant.log) is totally clear. Only these lines are inside.

This is totally normal. I tried to any by one disable the custom components but still got the popup.

Anything I should try or any other log file I can look for?

I’m using Docker Home-Assistant.

Thank you very much,

Automation checking an array of sensors

$

Hi, I would like to create an automation detecting any of my sensors changing state to offline, without having to add every individual sensor as trigger. Is there a way to add a trigger that will either check from a group or an external list of entities and their states (in this case ‘unavailable’)? I have about 20 sensors, all with extensively unfriendly names which is quite tedious to add them all in. I know I can rename them, but that still is a lot of work and I may want to add in other devices to the check.

I have searched various posts on the forums, but cannot seem to find a solution for this scenario.

Help much appreciated!

Home Assistant GUI unresponsive

Hi, i’m fairly new to HA and am struggling a bit with the stability of the system. overall i’m a fan but if i can’t have a GUI available 24/7 i’m not sure this is going to work out for my household needs.

It seems like the GUI stops answering the IP/Port every so often. This has occurred twice in two days which prompted this request for help figuring out what is going on with my setup. I’ve add the SSH addon so when this occurs i can SSH into the system and pull logs but i don’t know what or where to look for on these logs.

Based on other posts there was some pointing to MyQ integration that leaks data but since i have the 4gb model i don’t see that as being an issue…specially since my memory never goes much above 35%. Side note i reboot every night to ensure stability during the day when it is most used.

Hardware:
RPi 4 4gb version

Software:
HassOS 4.11
Home Assistant 0.112.4

I can post logs from my SSH (pulled a bunch of logs prior to resetting) but don’t know which logs i should be sending (Core logs or supervisor logs)

See images that indicate when GUI unresponsive occurs and when i restart HA.

MQTT Connectivity sensor linked to availability topic

I’m trying to configure a Connectivity sensor connected to an availability topic that will change with MQTT Last Will. (online/offline).

  "~":"homeassistant/binary-sensor/connectivity/rho2",

  "payload_off": "offline"
}

My sensor stays always disconnected. The availability topic is:

Please, what I’m doing wrong ? Thanks a lot for helping

Transmission card

Hello,

I want to create a card in which to list all the downloaded torrents but I want to sort them by the date they were added.
All attempts have been unsuccessful, if anyone has a solution please let me know.
I’m also curious what kind of cards for transmission you have.

  {% set payload = state_attr('sensor.transmission_total_torrents', 'torrent_info') %}

  {% for torrent in payload.items() %} {% set name = torrent[0] %} {% set data = torrent[1] %}

  {{ name|truncate(20) }} is {{ data.percent_done }}% complete, {{ data.eta }} remaining {% endfor %}

Thank you,
Ciprian

The right way of Securing ZWave Controller

$

Hello, I have been using HASSIO for last 1 week or so. So Im still learning.

I have HASSIO on rPI 2B with Nortek ZWave USB controller. I added the controller through configuration.yaml and did not add a network key.

Its working fine and I have 3 lights and 1 door sensor connected to it.

Im planning to buy a Schlage ZWave lock and add it to the network. I did research and I believe the controller should be in Secure mode for that to happen. This is where it gets complicated.

When I go to Configuration of the ZWave device, it shows “ADD SECURE NODE”. But I know I didnt add any network key!

Questions (many of them, actually)

  1. I checked configuration.yaml and options.xml. It doesnt have a network key. So does it mean the device automatically configured itself to a Secure controller?
  2. If it has did it store somewhere the auto-generated network key? How do I see that?
  3. Assuming its not secure, here is what I think are the steps I should follow. Could you please cross-check this?
    a. Remove the 3 switches from the network one by one and heal
    b. Add the network key to configuration.yaml and options.xml
    c. Restart the rPI so that now the Controller is secure.
    d. Add the devices again.

I didnt want to screw up an existing configuration and find out I messed up the controller. Hence this post. Please help.

Trigger an automation if draws power for less than seconds

I have an e-bike charger connected to a switchable socket. If the charger draws power for less than a couple of seconds after the socket is being switched on, this is a clear sign that I forgot to plug the charger into the bike.

I want to be notified in this case. While I can think of some clumsy solution with timers or template triggers subtracting last changed timestamps from the current time I suspect, I’m just overlooking something super easy but somehow I can’t figure this out right now.

is there an elegant way to achieve this? Or do I have to use timers or timestamp calculations?

Condition with "for" issue with Automation

I was hoping someone could look over my automation and let me know what’s wrong with my condition. I was able to narrow down my issue to the automation setting because when I remove it the automation triggers fine, but when I have it in there it refuses to trigger. My goal is for the automation to only trigger if there been no movement for 10 minutes.

The warning/error in the log is;
TransportError trying to run API method media_player.kodi.VideoLibrary.Clean({})

The library is cleaned without issue. Other than the progress message, the KODI box shows no other messages while the above is being carried out.

Anyway to stop it from occuring?

Convert string to int for history graph presentation in lovelace

I have built the superhouse.tv Air Quality Sensor which produces the following MQTT output:

2c703
AE1P0 = 5
AE2P5 = 8
AE10P0 = 9
PPD0P3 = 1131

I have the following in configuration.yaml to extract the data:

sensor:

Which presents the following in Lovelace:

However this data is of type string and does not present correctly in a history graph:

So I tried to extract the data with the following:

    json_attributes_topic: "tele/12c703/SENSOR"
    json_attributes_template: "{{ value_json.PMS5003 | tojson }}"
  - platform: mqtt
    name: "PB2_5"
    state_topic: "tele/12c703/SENSOR"
    value_template: "{{ value_json.PMS5003.PB2.5 | int }}"
    json_attributes_topic: "tele/12c703/SENSOR"
    json_attributes_template: "{{ value_json.PMS5003 | tojson }}"
  - platform: mqtt
    name: "PB5"
    state_topic: "tele/12c703/SENSOR"
    value_template: "{{ value_json.PMS5003.PB5 | int }}"
    json_attributes_topic: "tele/12c703/SENSOR"
    json_attributes_template: "{{ value_json.PMS5003 | tojson }}"
  - platform: mqtt
    name: "PB10"
    state_topic: "tele/12c703/SENSOR"
    value_template: "{{ value_json.PMS5003.PB10 | int }}"
    json_attributes_topic: "tele/12c703/SENSOR"
    json_attributes_template: "{{ value_json.PMS5003 | tojson }}"

However I’m no java programmer and the period in some of the MQTT variable names causes me trouble. For example the period before the 5 in this value_json.PMS5003.PB2.5 makes PB2.5 unknown. Also I’m not sure the int command in the value_template is creating a variable of type integer properly as I still see a colour graph rather than line graph when I plot these new values in Lovelace.

What is the best way to extract this data and present as integers? Should I pass the MQTT messages to NodeRed and write a function that passes them back as integers in a new MQTT message?

Thanks
Rob

Zigbee2mqtt - added 2nd router but devices wont bind to them

$

I have a custom built CC2530 router right next to my controller that has everything synced with it. A few far reaching devices will go super low quality signal sometimes, so I added an Aqara zigbee power switch, which is a router as well.

However, those devices aren’t associating with the new Aqara router. Even ones that don’t necessarily have bad signal, are way closer to this new one and still associating with the CC2530 router that’s much further away.

Here is my map - anything that’s drawing red lines should be going to Aqara in theory since it’s much closer.

Thoughts?

Configure Google Assistant Authentication endpoint for multiple Home Assistants

$

Hello, guys.

Here’s what I want to achieve: i want to publish my smart home action on Google Actions and with that, being able to link multiple home assistant instances using this published action.

For me to publish the action I need a static authentication, token and fullfilment endpoint for that action on Google. So I cant use the normal method of linking HA with google assistant, because for that each HA will have it’s own endpoint and stuff.

Let’s say a have a server on Amazon AWS or Google Cloud. The endpoint, authentication and token for my Action will be this server.

When the user open his google home app and link to the published action that would redirect him to the AWS server.
But the question is: is there a way that the server would redirect the traffic to that specific client HA instance based on his google email, for example?

I would like to use all the OAuth2, fullfilment and token stuff from each HA instance, since all this work is already done. But how do I do that with one single endpoint for my published Google Action?

Hope that’s not too confusing.
Thanks

Gas Wall Heater Retrofitting Smart Recommendations

$

Hi HA Community, I’m a first time poster, apologies for any mistakes.

I’m trying to automate my gas wall heater, and I need some guidance on where to get started.

I’ve taken a few photos of the heater for reference: https://imgur.com/a/QGqLfl5

What hardware would I need, if it possible? Ideally, I will be able to control the heater over WiFi with HA though MQTT or API’s.

I have smart thermometers around the house integrated with HA, so the solution would only need to turn on and off the heater, nothing else.

I’ve flashed Tasmota on some smart lights, so I’m pretty confident with that.

I’ve observed the gas is controlled with the analogue dial, and it has different levels of how much gas it pumps depending on how far the dial is turned. The gas is not pumped until I reach the 6th point. I’m not sure how effective the thermostat is, as the room will continue to heat, but I’ve not observed it turning off or changing when it gets too hot.

It’s not as simple as cutting the mains power to the unit with a smart power switch. If the power to the main unit is turned off, and the temperature dial is still on, it will cut the gas and pilot light, and I will need to relight the pilot. I believe this is a safety feature to prevent the unit from overheating.

Do I need a certified electrician / gas plumber to do the convert, or is it something I can do myself? I live in Victoria, Australia.

Will Google Assistant Local require external access?

$

Like many here, I am eagerly awaiting support for the Google Assistant Local support. I haven’t yet set up Google Assistant because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to expose my HA instance to the internet. Can anyone confirm if the Local (when it comes) will or will not also require external access?

As per this post, my understanding goes like so:

  1. You speak to GA to turn on a light
  2. Google deciphers what is meant
  3. the GA talks directly with your philips hub on your local network
  4. the light turns on

I don’t see a reason why HA would need to be exposed to Google directly, but maybe it will still be required.

On a side note, is there a place to subscribe to new features like this, short of reading every blog announcement?
